He started out talking about their day trips. When I lived in Bangkok, I used to do a similar thing. I called them "Adventure days" because that's what it always ended up being. Roaming around Bangkok is never boring! I'd leave in the morning, no idea of where I was going to go, and I just walked. Sometimes I'd hop on the BTS (elevated train). Great times!

how can you securely express your interest for tor updates? A single person can not keep track of all scrambled transactions.. but its not humans who keep track of them... I just had this running on the side and only picked up these 2 things between 30-40 (im too lazy to get exact numbers)... I was seriously interested to maybe join defcon (from few other videos i put more attention into it) but these two things kinda made it useless for me and i dont see the benefits joining it other then getting tracked - that i am a potential person interested in this stuff, which i show right now commenting on this video anyways (luckily im just interested in security and dont do any shenanigans even if it would just be research, but still i get into a grey area) this whole field is broken to make actual advances and still staying inside the law.... even if im genuinely interested in that security topics because i wanna know how to better secure (i need to know how to attack, and thats where things get difficult.. i cant possible provide all the different environments there are, but i can just go online and try and have all these environments) oh fuck im interested in security, but there are so many problems like people do things with bad intentions so you cant do the same thing just to lern and discover. you have stupid corporations with huge money which can just reduce you to ash if they figure you out and dont believe you, and many other issues

Is apple mac air book compromised i heard ppl say do not use TOR with osx el capitan mac book air(10.11.16) mid 2012 YOU can geta tor on apple apps but it looks mickey mouse,i had the real tor browser on windows xp and used it when navigating the darknet but this el capitan will not load it ,only the apple version(which seems dubious as tor is not owned by apple.Can anyone direct me to the right sites or that direction as i havd been told not to trust apple. I am thinking of buying a small laptop just for the darknet.PRIOR I had accessed and had accounts with the blackmarket sites,SR 2 and BMR .they have changed since though and become more complex.I have studied the basic layouts concerning encrpttion and understand that part.. SO THE QUESTION...i had the tor on my old windows xp now my apple wont download green(old type TOR) and offers This other tor in its apple apps which i dont trust...I am a learner but am smart but need pointing to a general1-10 any help will be respected. I am told Apple have backdoors and connections to the NSA...My windows xp tor worked fine but i cannot download onto my apple. Someone help me out in the spirit of anarchism>> Is that what he means at 41.40 about having a laptop with no hard drive just the needed stuff.

This talk was garbage. "An Introduction to Tor". In 2014. At Def Con. Two guys thinking they're in-the-loop, going thru shitty fake ID sites and cracking the same tired innuendos about buying contraband. Color me disappointed, this talk would have been appropriate in 2003.
@MrOmniblast9 жыл бұрын
+Alex Wallace "I already know this, so why are they talking about it?"
@hellterminator9 жыл бұрын
+MrOmniblast In general, you'd have a point but this is _defcon_. Everyone there spent about $1000 ($200 for tickets, $200 for the cheapest room possible, $600 food + travel) to be there. The probability of someone, who's spent a thousand bucks to attend an infosec conference, not knowing what Tor is, is nil.
@MrOmniblast9 жыл бұрын
***** That may be true, but it's now on the internet...and I assume they'd know that? So thousands now get to hear about it who didn't know about it before. Citing the price though, I understand. But this person didn't go there, they're watching it on the net. :)
@hellterminator9 жыл бұрын
MrOmniblast Well, yeah, but there already is a ton of videos on the Internet explaining Tor (and in a format much more suitable for video streaming sites), so giving this talk at defcon specifically to get it on the Internet doesn't make sense (and if they really wanted to get _their_ talk on KZbin, they could have just uploaded it themselves, they didn't have to present at defcon). And as a defcon talk it's just out of place (an opinion probably shared by the organizers judging by the fact that they were put in the smallest room of the 5).
@MrOmniblast9 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah, no it's fine. I agree now that I know how much money people spend an your point is valid.

Note: Don't use Tor, it's already been cracked, I have no idea why people are still using it. Edit: I retract this comment, I no longer think Tor itself has been cracked but rather that it is built in such a way that it can only give you so much anonymity
@DarkStar85110 жыл бұрын
What? No, it hasn't been cracked. There haven't been any proofs to suggest it's even vulnerable. The Tor "Browser Bundle" on the other hand offers a pretty big attack vector through Mozilla Firefox though. We haven't even seen issues of the state attacking it successfully (besides that NSA op that targeted an old Firefox bug). The internet: You're doing it wrong.
@blinktq157910 жыл бұрын
DarkStar851 Not sure where I read this but I hear you can control 1% of the nodes on the tor network and you can sniff out entrance and exit notes and find the target.

@mamshar45137 жыл бұрын
I guess what I'm trying to say is I expect more from a talk @defcon since most of the talks are geared towards relatively new stuff or interesting things that most people don't know. TOR being the subject is fine but again, the keyword is "relatively new" and "not a lot of people know". You can just as easily find this information everywhere on the internet and I bet most of the people there already knew many of this stuff. I guess my wording maybe a bit harsh, maybe I'm a bit repulsed by their attitude of "look we're top shit, we're on teh deep web hacking stuff" while presenting mediocre content.
@David-ud9ju7 жыл бұрын
You're the one being the twat here. These talks at Defcon are meant for people who go to Defcon and then they're also uploaded to KZbin. Everyone at Defcon should already know about Tor and Bitcoin.

Most of these Defcon videos are terribly presented. The content is always pretty good, but unfortunately these nerds are conforming to stereotype and can't communicate very well. Not to mention that they clearly don't get any time to practice on stage beforehand based on how much always goes wrong. They always present like they're just hanging out with their mates at the pub. The vast majority of them clearly don't know how to present professionally to a large audience.
