This is great Josh. I really struggle with defending good pressure passing. I try to focus on the concepts around blocking the leading edge that’s trying to pass but struggle with stronger guys who kind of smash pass - especially when they are good at tying up the legs.

crazy how the concepts from this video increase my no gi guard retention so much

Great video. I think the only one that might be able to pass Mendezs guard would be Ryan. Only because he has a size advantage and he is the world’s beat right now

Galvao couldn’t. Rafa submitted him.

Rafa had Jake roll with 6-10 of his students back to back to back with no rest … Jake was worn out and Rafa started recording without asking or permission. Jake just posted this week on Instagram this was the lamest thing he’s seen in BJJ in 20 years. Rafa is notorious for stuff like this. He is over BJJ. His brother runs aOJ now. Rafa retired young because he’s done. Irrelevant now, he’s never coming back to compete again.

Back story to this video…. Rafa had Jake roll with 6-10 of his students back to back to back with no rest. Jake was worn out when a very fresh Rafa started to roll and record without asking his permission. Jake said, “lamest thinks he’s seen done in BJJ in 20 years”….. lost tons of respect for Rafa for doing this BS and apparently he’s notorious for stuff like this. Shady. No steroids = no competing…. Typically it is much easier to retain guard in No-Gi

@@presleybjj I cant retain guard for shit in the gi, when my pant leg gets gripped I can only think hip escapes works
