It seems to be a glitch he performed when Yozora grabs Sora. When executed, it breaks the coding and makes the game think the link ISN'T actually active. So the bar doesn't drain because the game isn't sure whether it exists.

I can just imagine Yozora being this powerful dude who's been training for years for this moment being told he needs to save sora and he's worked his hardest gaining the most powerful abilities and the strength to do insane things. He has a hatred for sora and wishes to kill him and finally one fateful day he encounters him and goes to fight him. He know's it'll be the most important and hardest battle of his life so he is putting in 100% and is ready to kill this strange being that takes the name sora. But then sora just summons a random mermaid and then just starts bouncing across the entire arena while being like WOOHOO creating tons of water fountains as yozora just tries to kill him but can't he's yelling screaming internally as he tries to kick and punch shoot and slice this person but to no avail as he goes freaking confused and deranged from WHATEVER THE FRICK THIS IS. all the while sora is just going like UNDAH DA SEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAA. and then all the fountains activate at once and yozora just dies while sora is taking a selfie of him being freaking destroyed

That's not nearly as disgraceful as my win. So, I only played Critical mode to unlock the Oblivion Keyblade, so I started it with EZ Cheats, 1 hit kill. What I didn't realize, is that the 1 hit kill (even though the description said it wouldn't work on some bosses) killed every single boss in one hit, including Dark Inferno, the Data Org, and even Yozora himself. So, I killed Yozora on Critical mode in one hit with cheats.
