Defender Rear Door Gas Strut Upgrade

I install a rear door gas strut in a Land Rover Defender station wagon. The gas strut is far superior at keeping the rear door open on uneven surfaces.
The Mulgo Defender gas strut kit comes complete with all fixings and detailed instructions. Due to my rear door table modifications, I had to relocate the strut to the top of the door frame and make new mounts. The original door stay was left in place at the bottom.

It was nice to see that everything actually worked once all in place. Though I added about 6 months to the install job till I got around to finding the scrap steel to make them.

Nice upgrade Brett, wish I had done this to my old Isuzu Jackaroo, those rear doors where really heavy with a wheel carrier fitted and over many years fatally fatigue the door frame/body work 😔

I added a self-adhesive foam strip around all my doors to improve sealing. Works really well.
