Please don't distort history. They went to the Arab Maghreb countries after what happened in the Spanish Inquisition and were very well treated there. Ask any Moroccan Jew. Watch King Hassan II of Morocco speak to Moroccan Jews at a reception they had arranged for him in New York City. Contempt for everyone who is not within the elite and hatred of America - taught at the elite universities. Absolutely spot on. Regretfully, I am a recipient of their sheepskins. Thankfully, I escaped and deprogrammed myself, mainly by associating with the subjects of this disdain who were brighter, more productive, and better people than most people whom I encountered at the universities. Our friends are in the heartland, in most of Upstate NY, and what remains of normal America. Thank you Batya for letting everyone know!

It’s ironic bc Katie Halper went on a media campaign lambasting “The Rising” for firing her for “speaking out against Israel.” Which obviously isnt true bc look at Crystal & Bri. Read select chapters in Karen Armstrong's book A History of God to see how, while tolerant, the Jewish experience in the Dutch Republic included a heavy undercurrent of anxiety. My best friend lives there now for three decades or more, not Jewish, and sees the Dutch even now as claiming (independent of religious issues) to be tolerant, but not really so open minded and limber as they imagine themselves.

@@talmoskowitz5221 so I m talking on the situation in the 17th century. Renee Descartes, Baruch de Spinoza, Dirck Coornhert ea were able to publish their work in the Dutch Republic. Willem van Oranje was connected with Jewish inelligentia. This situation of tolerance was incompatible with whole Europe. To me Armstrong is not the measure to judge. Why do you think Democrats are so bad? I'm a democrat, & I can assure you that I'm not trying to control underlings. I have no underlings. I just tend to think that Republicans identify with the rich, typically (not counting my husband), and have NO CLUE what most people must experience. I think you're really alienating a lot of people, in not liking democrats. I'm watching this because I like Oren of travelingisrael, and I support Israel over animals ( not that all Palestinians are animals---- I think probably most of the women are good). I love this little Palestinian girl, Sham, though. She reminds me of my sister, after our father died. I've been commenting that I think she needs to be saved. She's more like you, than them. She says her mother is out of the country, but I'm not sure of the situation. I know this sounds crazy, but you could do this, for Sham, through your Palestinian friends. In the peace talks, can they get it agreed upon that they are offering Sham a part in a re-make of "Family Affair", as Buffy? She would be So Great in that part, and it would keep her self-confidence going. You can tell she's bright, and really special. She's in the KZbin shorts. She needs help, and she could get this help through her role as Buffy ( whose parents are dead, and she's living with Sissy, Jody, & Uncle Bill). Your Palestinian friends can help you save this one, and she'll help save other Palestinian women from what I see as the slavery of women.

Batya’s criticism of Jonathan Glazier’s speech at the Oscars was disingenuous. Mr. Glazier’s quote was that he “refuted his Jewishness being hijacked by others to commit atrocities.” It was not that he simply “refuted his Jewishness”. By omitting a few words of his quote..the meaning is completely changed.
