Here's the thing. Let's say that Hasan was correct and that Lord Balfour was, in fact, an antisemite. So the hell what? What does that have to do with the history of the region and the legitimacy of the Jewish state? The only important thing is that a Jewish state was achieved. So, in making a statement that is actually irrelevant, Hasan opened himself to be proven a liar for no good reason. And when one is proven to be a liar once, he has relinquished the ability to be believed on anything else. John Oliver has fallen into the same trap.

Anti Zionism and antisemitism are not the same as claimed. Noam Chomsky one of the great intellectuals of our time has been highly critical of Israeli settlers expansion. He would be considered by some in Israel as an anti Zionist but he is not an antisemite. Ms Hausdorff's claim that there is no occupation in the West Bank or Gaza is absolutely untrue. She seems to be speaking from the same book as Danielle Weiss. In other words if we keep on denying there is an occupation people will accept it. The reasoning behind this call to align anti Zionism with antisemitism is quite simple. By aligning the two subjects together it would make it a lot easier to silence people who are critical of the Israeli settlers and the Israeli governments expansion plans. Ms Hausdorff's comments on military matters are pointless. She is a lawyer not a military expert. If one wishes to discuss military matters one would do well to speak with an Israeli or American military expert not a London lawyer. There is no proof whatsoever that many in the Jewish community in the UK are leaving. The Jewish community in the UK have long been supportive of the Conservative Party in the UK. So, it is no surprise to find they would be unhappy with the fact that the Labour Party will form the next government of the UK. To imply that many in the Jewish community are leaving the UK because of this fact is totally unfair and untruthful. The reason for the Gaza/Israel becoming an issue in the UK election is the fact the hundreds of thousands of UK citizens have been marching in London and other cities in the UK calling for a ceasefire. Ms Hausdorff's criticism of Labour politicians putting Gaza at the forefront of their campaign and the claim that by extension they are supporting the continued war against Israel and the desire to annihilate the Jewish people. Not only is this a disgraceful comment for anyone to make but coming from a UK lawyer it is beyond contempt. Ms Hausdorff is critical of Labour politicians in the UK and their rhetoric. Yet, she is totally silent about the openly racist and inflammatory rhetoric coming from Israeli politicians on a daily basis. I would go so far as to say if a UK politician was to make some of the comments that have been made by Israeli politicians they would find themselves expelled from parliament. Once again we have to listen to Ms Hausdorff's somewhat dubious claims presented as fact.

Hm... I watched the whole debate too before it was delited. I heard NH and DM proving that antizionism is antisemitism, and I heard MH and GL making arguments as to why they think zionism is really bad. Who "won the debate" in terms of actually proving their point is anybody's guess.
