Not just that, letting your cat walk around loose is more likely to get it killed, either by traffic in Urban areas or by wild animals (or by someone else's pet) that will see cats as prey, it also increases the risk of disease transmission

Neighbors are feeding the feral cats and they're out of control. 4-7 new cats every 6 months with almost all of them dying to fighting or infantacide (cats do this) or vultures. My only solution is to somehow convince the several sets of neighbors that feeding wild cats without neutering them is cruel. Wish me luck! Also, send cat sprayer so I can possibly garden veggies once again.

I'm a cat owner and I have to say I like your creative solution. I would like to give a bit of advice on some upgrades to the system that I think would be more effective. 1. Rig the spray system to have a thinner jet stream so it goes further and has more impact when it hits. 2. Rig a Jug to the hose system so Instead of water, you can use a diluted vinegar solution, this will not harm the cats but the smell will keep them from coming back. 3. Use some kind of automated rotation to *swing* the nozzle of the device in the direction of the cat, don't let them explore. This will keep them from even thinking about exploring the area they enter. Becomes an effective deterrent. 4. Wash down everything they pee on with a urine neutralizer. Part of the reason that you have a cat highway is because of the scent. Cats memory of an area are triggered strongly by scent, if you reduce that along with all the other deterrents, they will not use this path anymore. I liked the video.

I own two cats who wonder outside everyday, even throughout nights. Personally, despite that yes they can get hurt I don't believe it is entirely fair to keep cats or any animal inside all day everyday. Cats want to enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and the ambiance of trees, bushes, and plants. After all, in previous generations cats were free and independent creatures and should not be confined. But that is just my opinion.

People need to remember their cats are meant to stay inside. They would need to be trained to live outside and would need quite a few vaccines in order to not catch diseases. Not to mention the predators and cars. My friend's cat and grandmother's cat both died due to coyotes. Cats aren't like dogs and don't need to be walked regularly. jeremy borchert No, inside only unless on a harness and leash. My cat is gonna be 14 years old in May, and she's as happy and healthy as could be, being an indoor only cat. The vet is always surprised by how healthy she is when she goes in for a checkup. She's safe from cars, predators, other cats, disease, people who would steal her, people who would poison her for being a black cat, people who'd hurt her just for being there, etc. Until you've watched someone let out their cat, only for them to be attacked by another outdoor cat (or any animal, really) or hit by a car speeding through your neighborhood, keep bad opinions to yourself. Cats are domestic animals, they are not wild.

Love it! We have a cat problem here also, most our neighbours have a cat that roams during the night and day. We have had two native birds killed, several lizards dead in our garden, scratches on our bonnet, two dead snakes just to name a few. We purchased a cat trap, caught the five roaming cats 13 times with every time dumping them at the pound so the owners had to pay a fee to get them released. They didn’t learn their lesson. So now, we have set up an electric fence around our boundary, the cats go under the fence where the wire is, need I say the cats rarely come here now? We turned up the voltage a little bit as they didn’t learn the first time. Now they certainly do.

This mindset is so pathetic to me. It’s a cat: it’s YOUR pet, not the other way around. So many cat owners either don’t know how to handle them or are content to let their little shit rats boss them around. I had a cat and it tried to dominate me and push me around. I wouldn’t stand for it. Kitty meowed for food even though it just ate? Too bad: dinner time is 7 hours away. Kitty pushed over a cup because it wanted to play? Too bad, I just played with it and now I have to work: in the bathroom it goes. Kitty wants to go outside and kill birds? Too bad: kitty is an indoor cat and doesn’t get to hunt innocent animals. If kitty scratched me or gave me a hard time, I used compressed air or a squirt bottle to show kitty it was being a cunt and it doesn’t get to treat me - the human who chose to devote my time, energy and money into giving it a good life - like trash. Kitty was not the boss. Kitty was not in charge. Kitty was not going to be a spoiled little brat who got whatever it wanted all the time. And you know what? Eventually kitty got wise and learned to behave. Kitty stopped meowing incessantly for food, or begging to go outside or for me to play with it. Kitty started off being a cunt but eventually became a respectable, well-behaved cat. I had to use the compressed air and squirt bottle every once in a while, but as time went on I had to use it less and less. Kitty became a good kitty who knew its place, which was subservient to ME, not the other way around. Any cat owner can discipline their cat and train it to behave, but the truth is that most of them either lack the fortitude, intelligence or patience (or a mix of all three) to discipline their cats because ThEy’Re JuSt So CuTe AnD cUdDlY lOoK aT dEr WiDdLe FaCe And AdOwAbLe PaWs AnD cUtE wIdDlE nOsE hOw CoUlD i EvEr Be MeAn To My PwEcIoUs KiTtY???
