- Flames of Truth: This is actually not the trailer but a reward for people who have completed an in-game raid which ties up the results of what happened between 1.0 and 2.0 (A realm reborn). The actual trailer stops at the fade-to-white and then shows the land 5 years in the future where things pick back up. The heroes reappear there after Louisoix (the old man) sends them away from death. In Flames of Truth we see that all the magic energy (Aether) he collected and the prayers of hope of everyone basically transformed him in the physical embodiement of the 'god' Phoenix and he destroyed the summoned entity (Primal) Bahamut. Who was trapped in that moon for a few thousand years so rightfully angry. - Heavensward: Sees 'us' (the highlander human is 'us') after a betrayal has us accused of treason and the murder of the Sultana of a major city (the cup part). We flee to Ishgard where we are enmeshed in the thousand-year war between the Ishgardians and the Dragons. The trek through the snow represents the exile, and we also see our representation change his job from Warrior to Dragoon. The latter also being a bit of the showcase job of the expansion. - Stormblood: This one has us travel Eastwards. Assisting two rebellions to free themselves from the rule of the Garlean Empire (the people that we were fighting in the first cinematic). We start in Ala Mhigo where our Warrior of Light is seen as a Monk, and then later we go to the Far East where we see him as a Samurai. We eventually have to fight and defeat the crown-prince of the empire ( He is that tall fellow with the long blonde hair) - Shadowbringer: Has us come to the aid of a completely different dimension. Apparently something very bad happens to 'us' in the future, as we see the stumbling Warrior of Light as an Archer (his very very first class at 1.0) reminiscing about his life and the path he followed. It's also telling that in the battle against the monster he goes from Archer through all the other jobs he's had in the other trailers until we land on Dark Knight; The showcase job of this expansion. We have to 'unmake our future' and 'become what we were meant to be'... Save this world and through it save our own... not as the Warrior of Light, but The Warrior fo Darkness. - Endwalker: This is full-circle... Going to be the End of the overarching plot of the Real badguys behind all these other expansions. Funny detail is the callback to an older Final Fantasy title where we also go to the moon. One of the main characters Cecil goes from Dark Knight to Paladin in that one and here we have our Warrior of Light self be a Paladin for this last expansion... Well... latest... Still, you might want to look for the actual game trailer for 1.0 and 2.0. Flames of Truth is just a little off.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames When you think FF14 is a 'grind' .. never ever start playing WoW ...
@Gralind2 жыл бұрын
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames It's free to play up until the end of Heavensward (up to where you'd transition to Stormblood), so you basically get base game and first expansion for free as a whole. The "grind" people speak of is most likely the early levels of the game (1-50),which start slow as the game has loose threads to tie from the failed first launch into the new version, as well as getting new players familiar with the world and how things work, as well as establishing new threads that carry on, some all the way to Endwalker (current expansion). You also naturally start as a fresh-faced adventurer recently arrived to the land, and slowly work your way up building your reputation as the story hurls ever increasing challenges your way, as fantasy stories are wont to do. If you're just curious about the story there won't be much typical mmo grinding, as the story quests give enough experience to carry you through to the end without having to engage in side-stuff you're not interested in. But definitely a story worth getting into!
@zanmato31032 жыл бұрын
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Honestly you can just play through the story and ignore the MMO part, except for when you have to do certain group content as part of the story (at which point you just enter a queue to join a group, once the group has formed you enter the dungeon/raid, do it, then exit and leave the group). This is what I personally do, I don't have the motivation to play MMO content now that I'm old. But it is a big time commitment. I wasn't speedrunning, took my time and did do some side-content along the way (most notably playing in the casino/arcade to get a special event mount) but I think I was at about 250 hours playtime when I finished the entire game (all expansions up to and including the latest). It is available on either playstation or PC, but it is solely online so you do need to be connected to the internet to play, and once you get past Heavensward you need to be paying a monthly subscription fee to access the servers. If you do decide you want to go on this journey, you will love it, but as a couple of other people have said playing through ARR (levels 1-50) and then doing the required level 50 stuff before you can start Heavensward is the grindiest, slowest-feeling part of the game. A lot of people either quit or take breaks during that part. I personally stopped playing twice during 1-50 for a few weeks each time as I got bored/fed up, but once I started Heavensward I barely did anything else in my free time up until I finished the entire game, it was that captivating. Super cool to watch you guys react to all these.

Heh, it tickles me a little hearing the uninitiated call Zenos "she". He definitely does fall into that bishi archetype. The "androgynous pretty boy" is a mainstay in Japanese fiction. And very often, the more androgynous and pretty a character is, the stronger they are. Zenos is the main antagonist of the series, and is the strongest entity in the world. It's interesting to see in your summary that you managed to pick up on some of the story beats even without any context. Some of the moments didn't hit home without knowing the background (trust me when I say that the "I promise you, Minfilia" line would have blown your mind if you knew the story and who Minfilia is :D), but I'm glad you enjoyed them. I suspect other comments have answered your questions, but just to throw in: The game is played in the third person. You create your own character who can be male or female, and from a number of races (the hyur - or human - male who the movies focus on is essentially a proxy for the player character. He's a stand in for the player; but the player doesn't have to be male, or human, or look anything like him) and adventure in the continent of Eorzea (and eventually beyond). Much of the game is played solo, following the main storyline of the game and leveling up your character as you would in any other RPG and gaining skills. Monsters wander around the world and will usually attack your character if you get to close to them, and fighting takes place in real time. Your character has abilities that you activate via a hot-bar, that can be chained together to create combos that make each attack in the sequence more effective (also known as 'a rotation'). Your character can find, buy or make armour and weapons, and your character model updates to accurately portray whatever you happen to be wearing at the time (unlike most other MMOs, your character isn't fixed as one class. Your character can switch freely between any class in the game, but he or she will level them up individually. Although it is possible to reach max level in every class with enough time investment). It is also possible to enchant your armour to look like other armour (for example, making a very powerful piece of gear that you don't like the appearance of look like a less powerful piece of equipment that you thought looked cool). Meaning that no two characters are every likely to look the same and there's a lot of freedom in customizing your character's appearance. In addition to solo play, the game also has group content like dungeons - where you team up with three other players and work cooperatively to fight your way through large set piece battlefields, fighting large groups of monsters and powerful boss enemies. Many of these dungeons intersect with the main story, such that you'll have to run them to progress. Others are optional side content. There are also 'trials', which feature between 4 and 8 players, which are basically very powerful boss fights. Again, some of these occur as part of the main story, and others are side content. Some of the optional trials have multiple difficulty levels, such as 'extreme', 'savage' and 'ultimate' - these tend to be considered the endgame, and being able to defeat them is a major accomplishment that usually gives the best gear. But they require major coordination between the players. Then there are raids, which are large scale dungeons that require a total of 24 players to take on. They feature some of the most powerful enemies in the game and have their own storylines. There is lots of other content in the game that I won't go into here, since the list would be exhaustive. But that's the basics of how the game works and how it's played. Some people even just use it as a social hub, and don't partake in much content at all except building a house, buying and customizing character clothing, and hanging out with their friends playing music.

Some context about the trailers: The first trailer wasn't a trailer, it was the Flames of Truth which showed how the 7th Umbral Calamity happened and the ultimate fate of Louisoix Leveilleur who was trying to stop it from happening. Garlemald is pulling the red moon Dalamud from the sky to devastate Eorsea, but what they don't know is a powerful elder primal (summon being) known as Bahamut was trapped inside the moon for thousands of years. Its release causes the 7th Umbral Calamity and nearly destroys all of Eorsea. Heavenward is the story of the player fleeing to Ishgard after being falsely accused of killing the Sultana of the wealthy nation of Ul'dah (the tiny girl who drank from the cup and fell to the floor). The player gets involved in Ishgard's war against the Dragons, learns the true origins of the war, and eventually is able to broker a peace between the dragons and Ishgard. They also, over time, regroup with most of their allies who were scattered by the incident in Ul'dah. Stormblood is a war story. The three nations of Eorsea are unwillingly drawn into a war with Garlemald to free the nation of Ala Mhigo from their oppression. All seems to go well until Zenos, the son of the Emperor, shows up and kicks the Warrior of Light's ass and most of the Ala Mhigan Resistance is crushed. To draw attention away from Ala Mhigo, the Warrior of Light and a couple of allies flee to the Far Eastern nation of Doma. There they help the rebels fight back against the Imperial viceroy and reclaim their freedom. Victorious, the Warrior of Light returns to Ala Mhigo with help from Doma and frees that nation as well. Shadowbringers is a story where the 8th Umbral Calamity happens and the Warrior of Light is killed. A survivor of the apocalypse travels back in time and to another dimension called the First. The First is one of 13 alternate universes that are all reflections of the main world of the game, called The Source. The First is being flooded by an overabundance of Light and is on the verge of coming to an end. The destruction of the First will trigger the 8th Umbral Calamity on the Source, to prevent this the Warrior of Light must become the Warrior of Darkness and restore darkness to the First which hasn't seen a night sky for over 100 years. Endwalker is the finale to the story that started in FFXIV A Realm Reborn. Remember the Source and the 13 alternate universes? They used to be one world, but something went terribly wrong, and the world was shattered into the Source and 13 reflections. The main baddies, the Ascians, have been rejoining of the 13 reflections with the Source to restore their sundered world, and every time a rejoining happens a Calamity takes place. However, the Warrior of Light has defeated all of the Ascians causing the calamities. A lesser Ascian and Zenos set into motion the same apocalypse which destroyed the original world, but this time on the Source. It is up to the Warrior and Light and their allies to stop it.

One mistake you made there, the Eorzean Nations refused to march onto war with Garlemald, until a dude, Ilberd, plans a coup, where he dresses a bunch of rebels in Eorzean uniforms and summons a destructive primal on the walls and causes untold mayhem, which starts off the war between Eorzea and Garlemald.

Final fantasy XIV is an MMO with an extreme dedication to the story. everything revolves around it and everything exists to service it. (this isn't necessarily a good thing but it's not bad either). while it IS an MMO it plays in a way that if it was just a single player story driven RPG it would probably feel like a complete game even like that. combat starts very slow in the game and progressively gets faster and faster as you level up and gain more tools of your trade. it also is extremely lenient for people who just wanna take it easy. catch up doesn't really feel like a "grind" so much as just doing what you want when you want. (the devs design philosophy is to take breaks and come back when you feel like it and it shows). there is also a ton of things to do to just kinda whittle the time away like the gold saucer, crafting, and sidequesting if the big raids with friends isn't your cup of tea. There WAS a free trial that included the entire base game and the first expansion with no limit on playtime, however due to the explosive success of the newest expansion, free trial registration has been put on hold until a later date as all NA servers are currently full. as someone who doesn't really like MMO's I can say that XIV doesn't really feel like an MMO in the best way. you still got your guilds and you still got your endgame raids (which if you like a challenge like me are very fun), but you can enjoy playing the game solo or with friends.

The song that features in Flames of Truth is called Answers and was written specifically for the game by long time Final Fantasy composer Nobou Uematsu. It was one of the last things he did for the franchise (though he did come back and write a song for FF7 Remake). So it definitely has that feel of the classic final fantasy melodies we all love. I did find it cool that the cinematic is called Flames of Truth and the song paired with it is called Answers. Probably not unintended. In the final moments of the the original iteration of Final Fantasy 14, as the countdown ticked down, everyone saw the first part of this cinematic (ending with the heroes being teleported away) before the servers went down forever. Some time later the game would be rereleased in the form it is now, vastly improved. It quite literally was A Realm Reborn. I have only once before seen a MMO do something so bold as to decimate their world in such a way. And that was a long long time ago (late 90's, early 2000's). And in that instance the newly remade world and zones were ready to go. The reset the servers and after a moment when they came back and up and everyone logged in, everything was different. Its one thing to do that with a small MMO with maybe a couple thousand players. Its a whole other thing to do it with a major franchise on a AAA title with literally nothing for the players to log on to afterwards. Square took a huge huge risk. And its fantastic to see that it is really paying off for them now.

If you enyoy the music, I'd like to suggest watching Final Fantasy XV OST - Apocalypsis Noctis (Live at Abbey Road Studios) which is a recent favourite of mine, but like Khellendross stated Nobou Uematsu is the master composer to FF as a whole... So many good songs!

It's always nice to see people who never played the game trying to catch what's going on by watching the trailers. For me, a veteran player of the game since day one and a Final Fantasy fan in general, it's 10 years worth of laughs, tears and joy condensed in 30 minutes of cinematics. The man who appeared in each and every cinematics is Square-Enix depiction of the player character, who is at the center of this amazing story. The hero of light trying to save the day with the help of the Scions of the seventh dawn. Endwalker is the final episode of the Hydaelyn/Zodiark saga, the main story of the game so far. Patch 6.0 will bring Endwalker online and the main story will close on itself at the end of it. Since it's not the end of the MMORPG in any way, 6.1 will be the start of a whole new saga that, I hope, will last for the next ten years. A wonderful story that deserve a try.

My Personal 3 Favorite characters that show up in the Trailers, are Y'shtola who is the White Haired Cat Gal with the Staff, she's just awesome in general and can be very snarky. She tends to be the most practical and logical of the Scions...though all of them tend to be practical and logical to one extent or another since they are all Archons, it kind of comes with the Gig. You also see her briefly in Flames of Truth praying to the Twelve and trying to help Louisoix(The Old Guy) Reseal Bahamut. Followed by Yugiri and Gosetsu, who were the two standing on top of the building in Stormblood. The real big guy and the smaller gal with the white horns. Both are very dedicated to their Lord and enlist the Warrior of Light's help to aid the people of Doman, well Yugiri enlists your aid, Gosetsu Shows up to be like "Yugiri! Where you been Lord Hien needs us!" then when she says she has a debt to those that helped her people he's basically just goes "Well then I will help too!"

The game originally takes place in a region of the world called Eorzea which is generally what you saw on the map during some of the trailers. In Stormblood you move into Gyr Abania (the Middle East of the world so to speak, also where the the two monks were fighting on the statue's hand) and Othard (home to Doma which is kind of a pastiche to Japan and China) and Hingashi (the world's Japan and the beautiful city of Kugane that the samurai was kicking soldier butt in). Endwalker is introducing several new regions and cities into the game, the villains are hanging out in Garlemald which is the home of the Empire. Old Sharlayan is the beautiful watery city.

So glad yelled finally watched these awesome trailers! I dunno if you plan on playing any of these but just to clarify some things for you: In the first cinematic the dragon was sealed away not born. As stated before by someone else, the person with the scythe is infact a guy :p He is also the same guy that was wearing the flashy armor during the beginning of the shadowbringers cinematic The guy riding the dragon in the endwalker trailer is definitely a good guy The tattoo you saw on some of the characters identifies them as part of the 'Circle of Knowing' "Sharlayan neck tattoos are a sign of having completed a high degree of education and being recognized as a Sage of that discipline." And the story for this game is so massive it would difficult to explain it all without major spoilers: But if you don't mind *SPOILERS* Long story short (for the last trailer and why everything was on fire), eons ago a world fell to pieces and now the world that the game mainly takes place in is experiencing the same catastrophe and the key to it all is on the moon (or something of that nature).

While I would absolutely recommend FF14 to any fans of fantasy stories, as an MMO it can be a bit of a challenge to get into- after all the upcoming expansion Endwalker is going to be the finale of a storyline that has been ongoing for about 15 years. That is a lot of story and gameplay to play through. For that reason alone I probably wouldn't recommend FF14 to be the first Final Fantasy game for someone new to the series. If I was to pick a FF game for a first timer I would probably recommend Final Fantasy 10. It is a far more standard single player, heavily story driven RPG that really captures the essence of a Final Fantasy game. It was made recently enough that the graphics are still appealing to look at, and has somewhat recently had an HD remaster, which means it is available on modern consoles and PC. Something to note about the Final Fantasy series that first timers usually ask about- the stories of each numbered game are entirely self contained. So you don't have to play previous games to know what is going on. All of the characters, conflicts and even the worlds themselves are unique to their own games. The only time this isn't the case is when it is a direct sequel- for example Final Fantasy 13 developed into an entire trilogy of games, starting with Final Fantasy 13, followed by Final Fantasy 13-2 then Final Fantasy 13 Lightning Returns. (On a side note, the FF13 trilogy are some of my favorite FF games, but they were rather divisive among fans- there are just as many who hate them as who love them.) That said, there are a few things that all FF games have that mark them as part of the series. Most notable are similar species of monsters/animals, for example every FF game has Chocobos, which are basically big yellow chickens that you ride like horses. Furthermore, there are some characters (usually side characters) which share names of people from previous FF games while not actually being the same person. A great example of this, that "pirate guy" from the Heavensward trailer is named Cid- he shows up in most FF games in one form or another and he almost always pilots an airship, but this Cid is very different than say, FF15 Cid who was a grumpy old man with a southern accent who runs a garage (FF15 also had another character named Cindy in English releases and Cidney in the Japanese release who essentially acted as a female Cid.)

It's 10 years of story and as far as I'm concerned, even though it's not a #1 choice for a Final Fantasy beginner, it's definitely one of the best MMORPG on the market right now (beginner friendly too) and also an amazing storytelling adventure. I've got friends who had never played a Final Fantasy game before hopped into the game a couple weeks after Endwalker's teaser release and they all enjoyed playing it to the point it made them try other games from the franchise. The community is fantastic, the story is incredible, the landscapes are breathtaking, the music is phenomenal and the gameplay is on point. 10 years worth of content might be daunting for some but Square-Enix put so much stuff in place for new players that it shouldn't be a problem. People are still running low level dungeons/raids through daily roulettes, there are many FCs who do farming run for mounts, there are even party forming everywhere to do hunts and older content (Eureka for exemple). I'm not writing this comment to humiliate the OP and the rest of his comment is all good. I'm just trying to tell people who might hesitate to play this game to give it a try. Square-Enix is even giving the chance for new players to try the whole base game + first extension (heavensward) for free as a trial. A whole 60 levels worth of content, story and excitement to try on.

19:58 "This might be the best so far" Me: Can't wait to see their ShadowBringer reaction Anyways yeah, you follow the same dude through out the trailers, the Warrior of Light. After the first trailer, where the 7th Astral Calamity happened, Bahamut blowing everything to hell, you're teleported 5 years into the future and everyone forgets who you are. Also there's a reason Shadowbringers is one of the best expansions, if you don't want any spoilers skip this but: The main world in the game is the Source, you travel to one of it's fragments, the First. In the First, the Warriors of Light of that world won their war against the dark, however because they won, the world became filled with Light, the angel is one of the creatures created from the over abundance of light. You come into the world 100 years after this has happened, summoned by the Exarch, the dude with the crystal hand. Throughout the story you're followed by the spirit of that worlds Warrior of Light, it's a very heart wrenching story as well. One of my favorite quotes that he says, in a previous expansion where it's all introduced, is "We did everything right! Everything that was asked of us but still! Still it came to this!." I think that's how the quote goes, but yeah it's an amazing story and I highly recommend looking up all the cutscenes for Shadowbringers, it's amazing. Also last thing, just wanted to point this out, the class in Endwalker, the one the Warrior of Light was using, is the Paladin, it's one of the best classes in the game, and is easily S-Tier

The false moon fell, the dragon was released, and the world was quite literally changed on a fundamental level. Forewarned is forearmed: This is a long post. Felt it is fitting to post this here, as it's related to the theme. :) While the game itself has lots of great action, emotion and fun-filled cutscenes in the MSQ (Main story Quests) , it is a MMORPG that, unlike standard gamers, requires a monthly fee to be played (save for the limited free-trial periods). Thus it may be less likely for you guys to play it in order to watch and react to them. Finding the scenes on Tube and watching them will surely only feel less immersive, since one need to have played the story up 'til those scenes to know what is, and has, happened, who those people are, why they do what they do, etc. One story there however, played via a Side-quest line, is real cool. It's about a inspector called Hildibrand (who is a Hyur, a humanoid race of the Highlander-type). Square Enix delivered a gold-coin with this character; he feels like a parody on classic detectives, spiced with a dose of slapstick- and humour in general. :D The cutscenes, as well as the dialogues outside them, are all text-based with no voice-acting, but in this case there feels no need for it either. -The comedy, laugh'able lines and silliness is just legend, in my opinion. ;)) If you wanna see the main cutscenes/cs'es only, with no immersing on the progress of the cases he tries to solve in between them, I got the links to some of them for recommendation: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3PYXpZrpJ55aMU

Ah, the problem of reviewing only the trailer without knowing the context of the subtle characters and significance of how things change from one expansion of the game to another. Playing through the game is a more enriched detail on the story without missing out on what is meant by each scene in the trailers themselves. Shadowbringer's seems by far the best thus far, not because its the latest in use atm but its the fact that you have been the Warrior of Light for the entire series, but now forced to change your ways due to circumstances of the new world you enter into.

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well I suppose you can get the whole story from the internet as long as you find a streamer that goes through it all. Hard part at this stage for the new comers to game is not to look ahead and spoil the storyline. After all, if you know someone lives at the end, it robs you of the story of potentially losing them in combat and such. Just noticed there were a few "head shaker" moments you two expressed and with no knowledge of the storyline its understandable, but they are subtle hinds or flashbacks of what has happened in story.

To answer your questions about the furry ears haha, the rabbit-eared people are called Vieras, and before Endwalker, there were only females in game, both in the first game they appeared in, which is FF12 and in this game. Males exist (otherwise how else would they continue propagation :), but were never featured. The cat-eared people are called Miqo'te and are just cat people. The little people are called Lalafels, or Dwarfs in the alternate world. Players are divided on the existence of Lalafels. Half hate them because they look like gnomes and the other half adore them because they look like po-tay-toes. There are also other races that exist in game, but these are the ones that were featured here. To answer another one, yes, this game is online only. You can play for free! Up until level 60 and the end of the first expansion, Heavensward (where all those dragons were attacking that giant castle). There's no time limit and you can level every single class/job to level 60, which could take several hundred hours+, and continue playing after, but you won't be able to progress in the story past that nor level to the max level (currently 80, soon to be 90 in Endwalker). In order to access the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th expansions' stories, you will have to buy either Shadowbringers (which unlocks everything up until then) to start playing immediately, or preorder Endwalker (which will include everything prior as well) to play once that expansion is released this fall. If you buy Shadowbringers, however, you will still have to buy Endwalker. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend buying either if you don't have the time to spend because MMOs are a HUGE time sink and even the base game will take you probably 100-200 hours to beat depending on how you play. Another 50-100 hours for the first expansion. It took me 900 hours to go through the entire game but only because I spent a lot of time doing optional things in game and leveling different classes. For most players, it would probably take 250-300 hours. IF you do decide to get into it, however, I recommend just playing for free and seeing if you enjoy it, then buy Endwalker when it comes out so you don't have to buy it twice (essentially). There are two versions of the game on PC, which is the Steam version and Square Enix's version. There are very little differences between the versions and it's mostly to do with being able to buy optional items for the game. If you start on one version, you'll have to commit to that version for any future expansions. I'm pretty sure you guys play games on console, though, so that really doesn't matter, just download it on whatever console you use! it's a really fun game to together with each other and other people. I know plenty of couples that play the game together (you can even have your characters marry each other in game) and have a lot of fun interacting with people. It's really about playing how you want to play beyond progressing the story to unlock things.

The main guy is the same from all of them, The people with the Tattoos that all match are a group trying to "save the world" Each Expansion or video showcases a different "job" a staple in most RPGs. The "girl" with the blond hair is a horrid bad Guy, he's also just "pretty" Rewatch them at some point, you'll see a lot of the characters in each one or most of them anyway. Each expansion released more Jobs, so the Dark night at the end of Shadowbringer, was a job released with that Expansion. which is why he didn't have that power before. Its a pretty involved storyline and realistically unless you play the game, you'll miss a lot, even with explanations. There are literally hundreds of Story missions with this game. You can get a vague idea, but its a game you understand better by playing. However, its a MMO, so its a big time investment. Also yes, the people with the furry ears are kind of Hybrids. A lot of this game references Final Fantasy 11, which there were 5 playable races, FFXIV started out with essentially the same but has expanded to add several more. But yes, there are Bunny People, Dragon people, Cat people, Elves, a Dwarf-ish race, there are "beast" people and then just normal "humans" And that's just the playable side, there are foes and allies which spread across more races, although those aren't shown in the trailer much, aside from the Goblin. Most of the "foes" you see the main character or allies facing, are Dungeon or Storyline bosses. And yes, Light and Dark plays a huge role in this game. Its not Quite so linear in that Embrace both sides, tho that is a piece of it. "Warrior of light" is a Final Fantasy Staple starting from FF1 Game play: Its a MMO, so online full time, Subscription based, but because of how much content, you can do a free trial and get all the way up to level 60, possibly higher, Current Level cap is 80. You assign Action to hot keys, or Keyboard buttons, Or can use Mouse and Keyboard to click. Its standard RPG, target monster, fight monster. Its Fairly fast paced. Its is also Very story and quest driven, with both giving you exp and helping you level up to progress further. You Auto learn Spells and abilities based on your Class/Job as you level, and need to equip yourself with appropriate Gear based on your Class/Job and level. The "wizard" from the Flames of truth.. That trailer was After the world Broke. They had an Alpha and Beta development, where Majority of the player base felt the game was trash, so they literally scrapped the game. They "ended" the world, by making a Giant Meteor crash down, Inside that Meteor a dragon was sealed away. So during the initial Storyline, you learn that Louisoix, the wizard, had helped seal the dragon away before. He is also the grandfather of the Sibling elves in Endwalker. But since the realm was literally ending, both in story, but also since the servers were being reset to be worked on, He sends you away to a new realm; A realm Reborn.

I play FFXIV. I'm looking forward to see both of your reactions to this. The "dragon" name was Bahamut and he wasn't hatched, he was imprisoned. They were trying to deal him back up again. Louisoix Leveilleur was the older Elezen man that gave his life to save the world. One the second video for reasons I will not tell you (hehe) we are exiled and cast from our homelands. Blamed for something we didn't do. So we head to Ishgard where a terror roams and we must find and defeat it. For the third video we quest more and it leads us to Kugane which is the beautiful city you saw. Much happens and we have to step things up a bit. As you saw our Warrior of Light Ardbert (that's his name btw) has learned to be a Samurai. Incase you don't know the reason Ardbert changes from Warrior to Dragoon and from Monk to Samuri is to show people that your not subjected to one class or job in the game. You can be anything you want. In the 5th video we are teleported to another world entirely. It's called The First. In our world we are known as The Warrior of Light. But in this one we must become the Warrior of Darkness because the world is set in perpetual light. No night time ever. We didn't use those Powers because we never had them. And for the final video we head to the moon. The person with that giant scythe is a man. His name is Xenos, you saw him before in the other trailer where the had the fight in the battle field around bodies of falled comrades. Honestly I'm excited to see if you play. If you do hit me up. And as always I loved this video. Thank you for reacting to the one game that changed my life for good. The gameplay is great characters can be how you want to make them and your not subjected to only one job or class. There are crafters and gatherers as well as the disciples of war and magic. This can be something I see you both playing I've seen multiple couples play it together. And they always tell me they have a blast.

So each Trailer had different jobs highlighted, the first one highlights, the Warrior, the armored being with the large axe, you also see the Bard, the catgirl archer, the Black Mage, the tall man with the hat and staff, the White Mage, the small individual that healed the Warrior, and the Paladin the giant with the Sword and Shield. Each one is for a different Role as in most MMO's. Warrior and Paladin are Tanks who draw the attention of enemies to them while other party members attack enemies and heal the Tank. The Bard and Black Mage are roled as DPS short for Damage Per Second they're goal is straight forward deal as much damage as possible as quickly as possible while avoiding being hit. This sounds easy but with certain boss fights it can be an extremely daunting task. DPS has three sub-classes, Melee DPS, Magic DPS and Ranged Physical DPS. The Bard falls under Ranged Physical while the Black Mage is a Magic DPS. Finally there's the White Mage, the Healer whose job is to keep the team alive primarily the Tank. We then go to Heavensward where the main class is the Dragoon, the Dragoon is a Melee DPS class that uses a lance, channel the power of a dragon through them and can jump extremely high and powerfully toward an opponent like a living bullet. Then we move to Stormblood where the two main classes are both DPS Melee Classes. The first class is the Monk, yes a monk and my personal favorite, the Monk is a fist fighting class that focuses on literally beating your opponents down and channeling the power of Chi for powerful attacks. The second class is the Samurai which you saw has all the stereotypes of Samurai's and more, they have the powerful Iajutsu and can unleash powerful Hissastsu attacks to deal damage. Shadow Bringers shows the Archer which is the class leading to the job of Bard. Now you saw the main character switching between the job's he's been which is something you CAN do in the game but not in the middle of a fight. You can switch between Jobs by saving them and then switching between them freely but this can only be done outside of combat and a duty. Several Jobs are shown off in Shadowbringers and some of them are on your allies that you yourself have access to the class of the person with the tarot cards is an Astrologist, which is another healing class it uses the power of the stars themselves to not only heal but give buffs depending on the Tarot card they draw. The woman is also a Black Mage, the man in white uses the class Gunbreaker which uses a unique weapon called a Gunblade it's a tank class known for being very complex and offense heavy for a tank class. The rabbit woman or, Viera, class is called a Dancer and it's another ranged DPS class that focuses on using dancing to achieve damage and they do so with bladed chakrams don't underestimate the name they can deal quite a heavy mount of damage. The Final Job shown is the Dark Knight who uses the power of darkness to shield themselves and allies and to deal damage as well. Endwalker shows off the Paladin Job again but it also shows off 3 new jobs one introduced earlier and two made for this expansion. The first job is the job of the girl which is called a Red Mage, it's a unique class that switches between melee damaging sword play with powerful black and white magic. They can be quite devastating once they get going. The class of the boy with the floating guns is a new class called a Sage it is a healer class that uses magical rods that shoot at opponents while also providing magical buffs while healing as well apparently. Then there's the class Zenos has become called the Reaper a new Melee DPS job that uses a spirit to deal damage, we don't know much about these jobs yet but looking forward to playing them. There are a few classes not mentioned in any of these. The Summoner, the Summoner is a Magical DPS class that uses smaller forms of entities called Primals to aid themselves in combat they can even summon a smaller version of the Dragon Bahamut to fight alongside and deal heavy damage. The Scholar, the Scholar is a Healer class and uniquely is tied together with the summoner except instead of summoning smaller primals they summon fairies and spirits to help their healing capacity. The Machinist, the Machinist is a Ranged Physical DPS who uses guns, gadgets and machines to deal damage from a distance they have a vast variety of weapons and tools and can shoot them all without needing to get up and personal. Finally there is the Ninja, a Melee DPS unit that uses knives, Ninjutsu and their speed to deal damage rapidly and constantly, they can use NInpo for a variety of effects including breathing Ice, or fire summoning lightning, increasing their attack speed and much, much more. The game gives you a healthy variety of possible jobs for you to play with.

Each expansion adds a new class or two, and that is shown by the protagonist's changes in thier ropes and weapons/style of fight. New playable races are also added and when that happens the trailer makes sure it is clearly seen, for example in Shadowbringers trailer clearly showed the dancing girl with bunny ears. Because she is a viera, the new playable race that was added in the expansion. It's a good way to get even more information into the trailer.

It’s been said a few times in the comments already but a bit of clarification, the first half of the Flames of Truth cinematic (before Louisoix goes super saiyan) was played for 1.0 players if they were online when the servers where taken down. There was a whole storyline these players had been working through up to that point and they had no idea that there was going to be a 2.0. They literally watched the game they had been playing destroyed. When 2.0 launched the original opening trailer shows the warriors of light who you see transported before the end materialize in the present day Eorzea which the current game is set in. The final part where Louisoix destroys Bahamut was only revealed players who completed the top tier raid at the time. Square has since learned their lesson and don’t gate major story points behind raid content anymore.

I mean these kind of reaction channels probably wouldn’t play the goddamn game but if there’s a slim chance you guys play it, this game has one of the best story I have ever experienced and I highly highly recommend to play it.

We are working on getting some gameplay going on this channel. Playing AC Valhalla right now. Generally mmo doesn’t appeal to us but we heard FF focuses heavily on story and can mostly be played single player so we may give it a shot 🙂

@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames play on the same world and you two can figure out the game together! It has a free trial through Heavensward as well, albiet with social restrictions, but it's extremely generous.

In FFXIV your character is the Warrior of Light. In Shadowbringers you learn that at any time the darkness or the light can become too powerful and destructive. I won't spoil it in case you decide to play it, but as you gathered from the trailer, you're fighting the forces of light. The main character in the trailers represents your character in the game. It is an online MMO and the controls (on computer) are pretty much the same as any other MMO. But it can also be played on PS4 and PS5. It plays very much like a single player game but there is group content that you have to do to advance the story. And the story is absolutely badass. Shadowbringers story rivals that of any big movies released in the past few years.
