On a small note, I like how Obi Wan tells Windu that Anakin should be on the manhunt anyway. He knows better than to stop Anakin, or at least knows his Padawan will get involved with or without the Council’s approval. In a deleted scene for the previous episode, Yoda talks to Anakin privately. He agreed with Anakin’s skepticism and encouraged him to do what Anakin does best: Act.

Yup. And Obi-Wan’s judgement should’ve been given more weight 😕

One thing to remember is that Ahsoka has techniquically only met Ventress once. Also, it's not like she's every met Count Dooku so she can't see the similarities in their techniques. Ashoka is in no positiion to recognize Ventress'es fighting style.

I think it was technically twice (once in the Clone Wars movie and once with Luminara Unduli while guarding Nute Gunray) but your point still stands.

@@Josh_Lee_HendersonThere were also a number of times in a few comics that came out around the same time, but most of those were very short interactions and fights. Edit: spelling

The intro with the council is one of the reasons Anakin didn't like the order. Because they kept testing him. To him it felt like they were unnecessarily pushing his emotions

Yeah the concil sucked XD they kinda asked for anakin to go to the dark side XD how can a concil not help or keep anakin emotionally happy. They didn’t even keep his mother safe at the LEAST.

I like how Obi-Wan instantly knew putting Anakin off the manhunt for Asokha was a bad idea. Especially after what happened before and seeing his outlook on counsel going negative.

And why not listen/ask the person that knows Anakin the best? Yes it also means emotions towards Anakin, but Obi-Wan has shown by now that he can check that for logic like when he lied to Anakin and didn’t bring him in on his fake death 🤗

That pardon was a TALL order for someone on the run. I can’t believe Ventress fell for that😮. I felt bad for her tho. A bartered child who was trained as both jedi and sith, and then abandoned. Found a new family that was massacred right after she found a new calling, had to find a new purpose AGAIN. Then not only gets tricked, but knocked out and robbed while contemplating what could’ve been if things were different.

Boy, the council just keeps eroding Anakin's trust in them every time they interact. This arc just keeps getting better and better; it's one of the prime examples of the quality of this show. It's been real fun rewatching this with you guys and remembering why I love this show so much. With that said, let's get into the fun facts for today. For starters, the title of the episode is again based on the name of an Alfred Hitchcock film, "To Catch a Thief". We get some more insight on how the lower levels of Coruscant operate, and just how different they are from the shine and polish of the surface. Part of this was the first appearance of the Coruscant underworld police (the guys that first show up at 1:52). These are a special forces section of the Coruscant Security Force who were, to quote Wookieepedia, "notoriously hardened and burly in comparison with the sleek GU-series Guardian police droids that maintained law and order in the upper reaches of Galactic City." Their uniform, consisting of heavy leather and metal armor with mechanical eye coverings, was meant to give them extra protection and anonymity while also denoting an authoritative presence. It also helped give them a bit of a mystic reputation, as to others it wasn't clear if they were humanoids, droids, or something else entirely. Speaking of police, although we never actually see any CSF units use one in the episode, we get the first appearance of the LAAT/le patrol gunship, also called the Republic police gunship. These are part of the same line of vehicles made by Rothana Heavy Engineering and Santhe Corporation that the standard LAAT/i republic gunships are a part of. They were essentially a civilian version of the LAAT/i gunship made for crowd control and other law enforcement functions. We get a few retuning characters this episode with Plo Koon and Asajj Ventress. I love seeing Plo Koon act as a sort of middle ground between Anakin and the Jedi Council because that's kind of where he falls in the big picture. He is a member of the council and as such he needs to embody the idea of compassion without attachment that the Jedi are supposed to stand for, but he is also the master who brought Ahsoka to the Jedi in the first place and, because of that, the Jedi who has known her the longest. It's clear that he does care for her almost as much as Anakin does, but keeps himself from letting his emotions overwhelm his logic. While it is frustrating to see him, at least on the surface, fall for what the audience knows to be an obvious set up, we need to remember that he doesn't know as much as we do and that the evidence, however convenient and coincidental it may appear, is all they can go on right now. I absolutely love how they turned Plo Koon from a background extra to a full fledged character. The same goes for Ventress who, while not exclusive to the background originally, went from a one note villain barely a step up from an obstacle to one of the coolest antiheroes in the franchise. I guess those were more opinion than fact, but I really needed to say it. Well, that's all I've got for this episode. I can't wait for the season finale on Thursday, it's going to be a real heavy hitter of an episode. See you guys then!

Ventress is cool, even if she's a criminal😁. And she's hardly stupid enough to believe that Ahsoka's word will somehow help her clear her name. Rather, she decided to help her for another reason. Which one? I don't know. But this is just my opinion, I may be wrong.

Once of the best arcs to understand that the council were not the “good guys that can do no wrong” that everyone thinks they are. They are clearly extremely flawed and not placing any trust or faith in Ahsoka not to mention Anakin or even Plo for that matter was disturbing. One of the best things to come out of this show is understanding and respecting Anakin’s feelings on the council and why he dislikes them so much.

Ahsoka was willing to pardon Asajj Ventress for all her crimes just because she maybe led her to a clue. This is some genuenly bad logic. The council and order did nothing wrong and followed the clues without letting emotions and bias ruin the judgment. Anakin is already a borderline sociopath who commits war crimes willy nilly and massacared women and children before the clone wars even started. The man bearly knows how to follow any order and the fact that Obi-wan who saw the love of his life murderd in front of him didn't fall to the dark side just shows how little justification Anakin actually had. Hell the only reason he wasen't booted out years ago was probably because he could be the chosen one. Then he does countless more evil degenerate shit as Vader. The fact that people can even somewhat justify this by saying that he council wronged him is scary.
