According to showrunner Kerry Shawcross, the idea of the team ending up in a Wonderland type fairytale was something Monty had talked about, and been quite excited for when he was sketching out his ideas for the show, it just took a while for them to figure out how to incorporate it or where it would fit into the narrative as it grew.

When i see people reacting to this volume i can notice that only a few people notice that in the op when the girls are walking and then they start to run only Ruby is the one who isnt runnig instead she beggins to walk more and more slow with her sight on the ground its like she really need a hug.

Absolutely everything has gone wrong for Ruby. They’re lost in basically Wonderland, Penny’s dead for real this time, and they have no idea if the evacuation even worked. And remember, she’s supposed to be the leader of Team RWBY. I don’t think you’re ready for what this season has to offer.

Thus begins RWBY's katabasis (descent into the underworld, or journey through the underworld). Typically, this kind of storytelling trope is handled in an allegorical or metaphorical fashion in modern stories, but in ancient mythology it often involved literally going to the underworld. It's usually symbolic of the main character's mental state. Silent Hill on the other hand is all katabasis all the time.

So this season had a couple episodes at the end cut for if get issues. They released an animatic that is essentially the final episode of the season/possible first episode of season 10 you can watch. They also have a short animatic series of about 4-5 episodes you can watch called RWBY beyond you can watch too that deals with the outside world and what everyone else is doing while the team is missing

Since neither Crunchyroll nor Rooster Teeth had captions, the transcript for the Jabberwalker (the purple thing) for those who couldn't understand it like me: Seeking...Searching...Scouring...Stalking...Searching...Scouring...Stalking (kinda hard to stalk when you're monologuing lol)...Detecting...Listening...Danger...Death...Bite...Rip...Tear...Recede...Retreat...Wait...Return... Also, fun fact I just learned: Little's voice actress also voices Wrath from Fullmetal Alchemist! If you've seen the anime, you'll know why that's surprising. If not, Wrath is a man. Hell of a vocal range.

That's awesome! I love FMA 2003. It's so underrated. Don't get me wrong, I loved the manga, and FMAB, but I actually take some issue with FMAB, mainly to do with the tone, and pacing. Plus, almost all of the minor changes made in FMAB were to the story's detriment. In my opinion, a manga faithful anime with a tone and pacing more like 2003 would be a perfect anime.

I know season 10 isn't confirmed, but the show did get bought up, and the cast is still appearing together at stuff, so I assume it is happening. Just probably not until they've gotten their dicks in a row, and who knows how long that will take. This season is great. Something intriguing happens in every episode, and the way Ruby has to deal with some very real stuff (as you can probably guess from her response to hearing about Penny, and from the into) hurts, but is handled pretty well.

We reach volume 9, this journey will be great, this volume is very special to me. I can't wait! The beginning is very good, the narrator talks about a girl with many problems and we immediately see Ruby's point of view of Cinder's attack and since everything happens so quickly it is so overwhelming and you can even notice her accelerated pulse. It's very painful to see 🥺 - One detail that I like is that the two times Ruby was very sad it started to rain👀

You know, considering the twists and turns in this season, it's appropriate that so much of the design of this place was inspired by the works of M.C. Escher. Also, pay attention to Ruby in the into cinematic. There's some import there.

Seeing once again Ruby passing out by hearing that Penny is gone and this time for real…really hurts. The intro is cool too, but seeing Ruby losing her hope is really sad. Enjoy this volume!

The level of giddiness I’m feeling now that you’re in V9 is just….. insane. The fact that Yang thought she was actually in some sort of afterlife after having died protecting her sister, and then is not happy when she sees her team because that means she failed and they “died” anyway. Like, okay CRWBY, just drop that whole load of depression on me. And then there’s Ruby’s rebuttal about “who raised her” because Yang took care of her after Summer died and their dad shut down. Excuse me while I cry about the Rose-Xiao Long sisters. Also Blake tackling Yang to the ground as soon as she gets the opportunity… these two are so cute I can’t.

Poor Ruby, every time Penny needed her, she wasn't there, either because Mercury got in the way, or because she fell off a platform. Penny was also a living example of them having a chance for them to regain what they had lost. No wonder the girl fainted.

Little is the star of volume 9 lol also all the residents of wonderland (they’ll name it later in the volume) use they/them pronouns And I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to laugh at Neo decking Ruby. I think it’s bc usually her fighting is so graceful and fluent so a punch like the one we saw is so unexpected. Love Neo she’s my favorite villain for sure Weiss wanting to wait to tell the story of what happened after the rest fell is heartbreaking she didn’t want to relive it more times than she had to

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to think about this volume when it was airing. It was very jarring to be taken out of Remnant that I knew well with all the characters that I love at the moment of highest tension and be thrust into this new place that I didn’t know at all. The first half of the volume my heart wasn’t really in it because of that. I was just impatiently waiting for them to get back home. However by the end of the season, and especially on rewatch I absolutely love this volume and think the slow start is well worth the ending. Funnily enough I had almost the exact same experience with The Bad Batch.

The news on Volume 10 of RWBY is that the crew are moving to VIZ, an anime platform since Crunchyroll didn’t help out as they promised. And since Rooster Teeth is down, Volume 10 was delayed. There’s no exact date, but we did see a rough sketched out sneak peak of how volume 10 begins!
