What if thickness value is not given ?

Thickness has to be given if you want to find the elongation. If it is not given you can assume unit thickness(t=1mm or unit given in the problem) and find the elongation for unit thickness.

No, we can not do that, We have to integrate along depth as well as along thickness@@facttv94
