Everyone is your best friend at Defqon, people hug strangers and dance together like there’s no tomorrow. The vibe is amazing, love and joy and no agression at all! People often think that because the music sounds kinda “voilent” there would be a lot of anger at these party’s. They couldn’t be more wrong. Rave party’s are the peacefullest party’s of all❤️

Hardcore for sure did, but you completely miss Detroit, Chicago and the UK in general have also been influential for house music. It is hard to pinpoint the exact origins, though most likely not just the Netherlands... Although we would all like to claim it, credit where credit is due; Chicago
@20kilovolt2 жыл бұрын
I would have liked to agree with you, but it's different. House music comes from America, Hardcore from Germany and Happy Hardcore from England. Belgium was also very big in house music and was actually one step ahead of the Netherlands. The Netherlands made Hardcore great in the 90s they came all over from other countries to party in the Netherlands. The Netherlands has given a great diversity on all types of house and also the reason why the best DJs come from the Netherlands.

Its called gabber Mucic. From Wikipedia: Gabber (/ˈɡæbər/; Dutch: [ˈxɑbər]), is a style of electronic music and a subgenre of hardcore techno. It is characterised by fast beats and samples, and was developed in Rotterdam in the 1990s by producers like Paul Elstak. Seminal early labels were Rotterdam Records, Mokum Records, and Industrial Strength Recordings. The word "gabber" comes from Amsterdam Bargoens=slang and means "friend".

There were quite a few happy hardcore and hardcore (gabber) artists back in the '90s, especially in the second half of that decade, allthough most of them were already active before that time. There were both DJs and groups with producers behind them in these two subgenres, and probably most of them were either Dutch or German, allthough some from other countries were known as well. Charly Lownoise (I believe his real name is Ramon Roelofs) is a producer and DJ who (if I'm not mistaken) comes from The Hague in the western province South Holland, and Mental Theo (his real name is Theo Nabuurs) is originated from Rosmalen, a village in the southern province Brabant, near the province's capital city Den Bosch. They're probably the greatest legends as a duo in both subgenres outside of Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the two cities that were and possibly still are pretty much rivals in terms of this part in the musical scene. Other Dutch artists that are known are DJ Paul Elstak, Darkraver, The Prophet, Promo, Jeroen Flamman (he is a producing duo with Jeffrey 'Abraxas' Porter, who has his origins in the US) and the Party Animals (the artist group Flamman & Abraxas produce tracks for aside from their own work). And speaking of the last few names, they have co-operated with the American DJ, producer and musician Rob Gee a few times. Rob Gee is quite famous in the Netherlands, and probably more famous there than in the US. A few artists from outside the Netherlands include Scooter (who switched from Happy Hardcore to other genres like Upbeat Trance and Eurodance after a while) and Dune (you heard their hitsingle 'Hardcore Vibes' in the video). In the UK happy hardcore seemed to be a little different from that of the main continent, and I believe it was known as UK hardcore. Technohead is one of the examples of artists from there. Flamman & Abraxas' remix version of one of their songs has caused their breakthrough in the rest of (Western) Europe, if I'm not mistaken. I don't really know how big this scene was in the US back in those days, but some of the groups and DJs did break through in East Asia and Latin America (I know at least the Party Animals did, as well as Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo).
