Defrauded by a motorhome dealership

We ordered a new Etrusco during the pandemic and fortunately we cancelled the order and were fortunate enough to get our deposit returned. Sadly some friends ordered same van from same dealer and at last count were out £12,000. These fraudsters need to be locked up and the keys thrown away. Disgusting.

Hi Matt, Claire’s story is a nightmare that could have happened to any one of us. Assuming she had to have comprehensive insurance on the motorhome up to the point at which it was sold, surely the legal cover within the policy would provide assistance in the pursuit of remuneration from the agent. May also be worth checking legal cover provided in any home policy she may hold. I wish her all the best.

Claires story is heartbreaking, clearly the cash has long gone, sadly and even if a criminal prosecution takes place , the money wont be forthcoming

Great show guys keep up the good work. Could you reconfirm situation with carrying a spare wheel in Italy? Our Malibu only has a bottle of gunk! No space for a spare wheel. We did travel around Italy last year but don’t recall ever reading this advice. Thanks.

@@jenibutler7138 we’ve already got a bike rack fitted, so don’t think there’s space. A roof mount would be of interest if such a thing exists?

There is contrary advice online. My understanding is that Italian rules were you had to carry a spare wheel but it might be the case now with so many EU conforming cars with puncture kits that this is acceptable. Some places state you must have means to continue your travel. But a blowout could not be rectified by a puncture repair gel. Personally my advice would be carry a spare, jack and brace. Even if only to save time waiting for breakdown services. Provided you can of course! Space and payload are the consideration. Either way, enjoy Italy again when you go!

My Ford motorhome dose not come with a jack or wheel brace only an inflator kit. But I believe that complies with European regulations

So, Claire bought a MH and wanted to sell straight on without registering to her and TRUSTED an agent she didnt know to handke it, then bought another to go on a mega holiday overseas in - i wish I could afford that! Then asks for others to bale her finances out by crowdfunding? Im sorry shes in a pickle, but i dont understand why others are being asked to finance it, while staying away in another country on holiday!! Ive just had to pay expensive bills, but have to pay for them!! Sorry if this comes as harsh, but think about it! She could come home ans sell the other one if shes broke!

Some of the facts in your statement are misinformed. She went on holiday last year in a 2nd hand motorhome bought using her remaining money. A short trip. The dealer selling it she knew and sold her the brand new one. They agreed to broker the sale as a brand new unregistered motorhome. She may have to sell the 2nd hand one to be able to retire. She has been fleeced for a significant sum of money. Yes, it’s her problem but at times like these we have an opportunity to empathise and support one another.

I think stating all caravan dealers is a little harsh! There are plenty out there that are honourable and work hard to earn trust and respect. My own team for example!

Not the ones I've been to!!!! One told told me owed by smoker nate So I took out my damp meter and it went off the scale That's probably why there's an empty lot there now👍🤓 . ,
