A correction. In prayagraj a Kumbj is held once every 12 years and 12 such Kumbhs makes a Mahakumbh, i.e. one mahakumbs comes only after 144 years. Many people cannot avail a mahakumb in their lifetime. In my family, me, my son, my grandson are all very lucky to witness this mahakumb in our lifetime. I am more than 87 years old so even though I very much wish to take a dip, I may not be able to do so. It is my son's and grandsons choice if they wish to avail this opportunity. We are jains but we follow all sanatan hindu traditions as well as jain traditions. My father also followed sanatan hinduism. He did 4 dhams and all 12 jyotirlings. And kashivishwanath, he did 4 times, and also bathed once in gangasagar but since he was born in 1910, and left this world in 1986, he was not lucky enough to see a mahakumbh in his lifetime.

Sanjay sir and Adi sir, the concept of temple chariot in the streets was done by temple priests saying to the people of the city that, due to the people's busy schedules, if they cannot come to the temple we will bring God Almighty near your house door and you yourselves can do Aarti to the lord In front of your door. They were so magnanimous. That is why in all temples there are what is called ....UTSAV VIGRAHAS...... which are exact brass replicas of the large shila moola vigrahas. This facility was for each and every family in the city.
