deftones - gift (version 2)

Man deftones should really deserve more credit for what they have done, not only they're one of the most influencal nu metal band ever created but what they have created back then was 10years ahead of other band ! Deftones till i die !!!!

I remember when I first got into Deftones. It was back in 94. A buddy of mine had ther demo and this was one of the songs on it. It brings back some emotional memories of my youth. Deftones strike a cord in me that no other band can do.

He has a great natural voice! I can definitely see The Cure influence in this. When my sister played it for me, I said that sounds like The Cure.

It's the genre Deftones, Korn, Linkin Park, and many other bands are in. It's basically a heavier version of Alternative Metal. It was really popular during the late 90's through 2001. Got replaced by emo in 2003-2008 but emo has been getting less airplay then before.

There is no "version 2" of Gift/Guest. This is just the same song but slightly sped up. Just like how people do the same thing to Some People and call it "demo B".

That`s something that I find strange about the Like Linus demo. Some of the songs on there were a lot more mature and thought out than most of the stuff that was on Adrenaline. If you listen to the song "Bumble D" that`s here on KZbin, that song was way more technical and complex than most of the stuff on Around the Fur, which was released shortly after they composed that song.

Producer choices? Marketing? Too tough to play live? Band profile, obviously some members of the band prefer harder sound than others. But yeah, i agree with you. Some of these songs would sound fantastic with an album production and more work put into them.

I think it has to do with the band’s taste changing and trends in metal evolving. Technical riffs in standard tuning were out and simple drop tuned riffs were the new thing. I always thought it was a little weird how he abandoned those crazy sliding power chord riffs and blink-and-you’ll-miss-it harmonics

I really don't get how they pulled this off. This sounds nothing like deftones. It's way more mature, chino even sings here very good. They should've kept this sound and build on it. it's way better than their other stuff.
