I didn’t forget any of those songs. Sure, they’ve got some brightness to their chords, but none of them are anywhere close to the “happy metal party” vibes this song has. Plus the discernible riffs in those songs are actually pretty sinister sounding even if the songs as a whole are happier.

I was expecting darker Deftones looking at the first visual but in these dire times, we needed this. The distortion combined with the uplifting riffs into this powerful melodic culmination gives us strength and hope. This video reminds me of the verse "for we walk by faith, not by sight”. Both man and woman walking stoically through dystopia but not in a completely lifeless setting. As you can see the surrounding plants and leaves still on the trees with splashes of red symbolizing love. The destroyed automobiles (representing materialism) floating have no weight because they are useless. The reappearing hands symbolizing strength and protection. The wolf represents freedom. When they are finally united below the cherry blossom tree (symbolizing life, death and renewal) in harmony with the lotus flowers and fish represent rebirth. Utopia arises in the midst of chaos showing us nothing really matters only LOVE. Thank you DEFTONES ❤️

Tool and Deftones are the only bands I can think of in which I'm still just as much a fan today as I was back in the mid to late 90s. No matter how much my taste in music has changed or broadened, they've never stopped being my favorite bands for basically 25 years. Deftones are interesting because they've changed so much but my taste in music changed right along with them. I've seen both in concert numerous times, tool as early as this year, but I could die a happy man if they'd go on tour together. Tool would be the headliner just because they put on such an intricate and complex show

It's more alternative than prog or post (as, let's say, Koi No Yokan) 'cause most influences at that moment were like that, and Chino lead the creativity over Carpenter. It isn't a bad album, but it's surely a product of its time. With this one they seems to take back the post rock they were exploring in Koi. The band has ALWAYS been progressing and experimenting, doing what they feel is the way to go at its moment.

If you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're," then you are obviously the weak-minded one here. If you ever want a job above minimum wage, maybe you should consider developing your English skills above a second grade level.

Actually many musicians who have released stuff and have done live streams saved it for me. I have had some very good guitar lessons this year too so... not that bad of a year for myself with home improvement and all for more comfort overall. Sure you can't kill corona virus with music, but many musicians releases have given me stuff to look forward to getting and listening to thus year. I am even a musician myself and since insta has been having so many people on it I have posted more music stuff this year there. I also think instagram is one of the best social media places for musicians and you musicians could do a twitch stream to get more money than from youtube or do yt and twitch stream at the same time if they take the time to set that up properly. With all this online usage people are doing, I think taking brakes from tech with screens for a bit is good for mental health plus blue light filters durring or before bedtime can help. 2020 was terrible for some, but so far I don't mind not being around friends that much in person myself.

Try listening to it more than once. Like perhaps 5-10 times. I swear almost every Deftones song is a grower. Reminds me of Radiohead. You gotta listen more than once. It all starts to come together at some point.

I love how the last 30 seconds perfectly showcases each individual musician’s talent. The mix is just great! Chino and Frank deliver the atmospheric angst. I look at Stef as like a boxer just punching away and moving around at an invisible enemy and then rhythm section Abe and Sergio keeping the whole thing together on a wavy sea of silky smoothness.
