Im 23 and found Deftones late last year while playing alternative/grunge playlists at work. Everytime any of their songs came on I would fall in love and check who the artist was, it was always Deftones. This happened like 5 times. I felt like they were made for me. I went through all their albums from Adrenaline to Gore. I became obsessed and now theyre definitely in my top 3. Deftones for life.

I'm 42 and from Scotland, I fell into Deftones a year after their debut album thanks to being alive at the birth of MTV2. In 1996 MTV was only 11 years old but they were already losing viewers by the tens of thousands every week because they didn't have their finger on the pulse and so they launched MTV2, a harder, heavier, ballsier, no-fucks-given channel and truth-be-told the channel likely would have died at birth if it wasn't for the fact that it came into being at the exact same time that Nu-metal was about to explode. We had cable at the time, but not the 'extensive package' and so a bunch of us would spend most of our time at a friend's house listening to the first songs from Korn, Deftones, Tool, RATM, System of a Down, Limp bizkit, all of the pioneers of that noise, and we fucking loved it. Anyway, why did I mention I was Scottish? Just because I got to see Deftones in 2001 at Glasgow Hydro and it was the last show they played before they were forced to cancel the rest of their tour because of Chino's drug and drink problems. He fell over like 6 times during the show but never stopped singing and never missed a beat. Though you could see in his face he was shattered. Someone threw a metal gauntlet on stage, like literally a piece of fucking armour, and he put it on and wore it for half the set. Such a fucking incredible night.

This is grossly under-viewed. Great song choice (one of my favorites) and masterfully done. I would love to see you do 'Mascara' or 'Your Skull is Red' from Team Sleep, i feel like you'd absolutely CRUSH those. Subbed! EDIT: Still thinking about this. Just wanted to add that a I feel like a lot of people interpret Chino's voice as more 'artsy' instead of skillful. Therefore, we get very lazy with Deftones covers because if it sounds sleepy and spacious enough, it's close enough and we're stuck with off-key/unsettling pitch disguised as passionate vocals. I appreciate that you did the exact opposite and paid homage to the actual craft. Chino would be impressed.
