My brother ended his life back in 2019 and I'm still distraught over it. When I found out, I was emotionless and couldn't believe it was true. Then it sunk in and I cried for days, months... it's now 2021 and I'm still not over his death. I remember back in 1999, he took me to my first Deftones concert and I was a Freshman in High School. I will always remember that moment with my brother for the rest of my life. I admired him and loved him so much. RIP Peter Aaron Maturi.

I am so sorry for your loss man, life is such a painful yet beautiful journey... a ying and yang- we can never know what is happening for some people, sometimes their pain seems invisible, I can't imagine what you're going through- but just know people are here for you. Even if it is a stranger on the internet. Just know you will always have that memory of your beautiful brother. Don't ever feel bad or beat yourself up when life gets tough... it is tough for everyone, you're doing enough ! Always remember that. I hope you and the rest of the world has a better '21. Someday we will all check out of this world and reconnect with loves that have been lost. Until then, ride the wave and enjoy the journey- good things will come to you bro. Love from UK xx

Many people probably don't know that this cd also had a VIDEO GAME on it!!! (IF you were using your cpu to play cds). It's a version of Pac-man, with a white pony in place of Pac-man and the band members' faces in place of the ghosts, and a really simple computerized version of "My Own Summer" playing. I already LOVED Deftones, but this little addition was pretty damn rad for a geek like me! : )

A-men to that comment dude. Deftones are Hardcore veterans as are all of us Hardcore fans We're all going nowhere and what a perfect example of what a great true band, music and fans is all about I was 15 when this album came out but Deftones for me 1998 to right now actually and forever until my heart stops beating as they're deep in my blood and my soul and the fact that I never went looking for Deftones they randomly found me and you already know this. We couldn't be happier about it. Music is the best thing ever created by human beings in my opinion. Anyway Much love stranger but also my fellow Deftones brother Grahm Petersen and your lovely lady and, from America. I'm taking a wild guess there but I'm Marc from Manchester UK - Nobody probably cares ha but late night music nostalgia binges plus reading your comment made me do it so that's my excuse . I have a very specific memory revolving around White Pony. It was my senior year in high school. Classes were pretty much finished, and all the kids were having a BBQ in the parking lot outside the band hall. I'm a drummer, so I was close friends with all the band nerds. We pulled our car next to the building and had this album blasting. It was a nice, cool day with the sun shining. I had to leave early to go to work while everyone else continued to hang out, but I remember the magic of that day, and this album was a part of it. I've had a lot of good times in my life, but none better than that.

Back to school is such an underrated tune. It gets a ton of hate for no reason. I know the label made him do it. But he made a true nu metal song so fucking well. Chino rapping makes deftones songs hit a range of aggression that the full blown metal songs can't hit. Just brings that swagger. When I go into something I need to get done, that swagger helps bring the house down. Badass.

@rowancowley86954 жыл бұрын
I think the reason the band and many fans hate it is because it doesn't fit with the artistic vision of the album. They were pressured into doing something they really didn't want to do by the record label and they always regretted doing it. Anyway, having said that, i don't mind listening to it....it sounds pretty good.....it's just not really a track that suits the album it was designed to promote....but if viewed as a separate entity, it's far from a bad tune.

I read so many of your, "This takes me back 20 years" posts. I completely missed the Deftones, I knew they existed, I just never really had time to enjoy them and I am mad at myself. In July of 2000 I purchased my company. For the last 20 years I put everything I have into it. Because of that I missed so much, like this album or their concerts. Elite was just on Sirius Turbo, I enjoyed it so much I went on the Tube to find it and listened to it 5X in a row, then went to this album. I have heard Change 1000X on the radio, I barely heard Elite, and it blows my mind every time I hear it. This is my first time listening to this entire album. I am late to the party.

I'm glad you discovered Deftones and enjoy them. I was a fan of theirs back when it was just Adrenaline. But when White Pony came out... oh man. There just wasn't anything like it at the time.

It's crazy and pleasantly scary how relevant this album is still nowadays. It was like 30 years ahead of that time. It could be released today and it would be considered modern rock/metal. I have never heard an album that has aged better than this one.

A friend of mine recommended this to me and oh i'm so glad he did. I heard the tracks: Knife Party, Passenger and Rx Queen. After that i avoided this album like the flu till it got in the mail and once it did i instantly fell in love with Deftones. Edit: By avoided it like the flu, i meant that i didn't want to spoil the rest of the album before i got it.

I wish more people in my age range (18-24) listened to this kind of music! It's very rare to find people my age who listen to this kind of music, besides my 2 best friends, it seems like all of the people in my age range listen to mainstream autotuned crap. :/
@kaylam22537 жыл бұрын

It may also be the age difference. Most 18 year olds were 1 or 2 years old when this came out so... not a lot get up listening to them. 24 year olds I guess you'd have to have parents who listened to this stuff or at least older siblings and cousins. And sure people can always discover this kind of music and get into it but because it's not pop and not as well known unless you're into the rock and alternative scene then the majority aren't going to know what and who exactly this is... so not only does it have to do with the majority of what most people listen to but also the age and what people grew up listening to as well. My mom was emo af when I was growing up so I grew up listening to SOAD and A Perfect Circle and stuff like that but then again, i had a young ass mom who was in her 20's when this album came out so age is a huge factor.
