There is a small military outpost there. Based off Eglin AFB. Many military folks live there, and half of Crestview is military residents. That’s why you see many out-of-state License plates. I have WY plates on mine.

Y’all didn’t even talk about the library the oldest one in Florida built in like 1886 and the fact they have a huge medieval weapons collection. So much cool info if you were so inclined

That is a beautiful clear lake and I like the Victorian homes. It will be interesting to see if you find a squated truck.

My husband and I lived here, 13 years. I was the manager of The Walton County Heritage Museum for 6 years. The old Railroad Depot. Rich History, and many buildings on The National Historical Register. I live in Texas now, and love it, but got great memories here.

OMG! at 5:16 you passed by the Defuniak Hotel (used to be a Freemason Lodge back in the day, then apartments). The owners restored the INN (BEAUTIFUL inside BTW). Sadly, they couldn't sell it ( freaky) & it ended up going on auction. There's a video about the whole thing. This charming town has lakes & Victorian style homes. The INN has a restaurant too but I have no clue who bought the place. The original menu rivaled top restaurants. They had lobster, Oysters Rockefeller, desserts & things that were known to be old school top notch culinary delights ( before the whole fusion thing ). They also had music. WoW! I hope you guys go back & tour it to see what finally happened.

Plateful is a wonderful buffet. You go on the right day and the salmon is excellent. Thrift Way is a great place to stock up on frozen vegetables. Also I have seen just about every kind of car imaginable here.

Good beaches about an hour drive but I suspect school might suck. Not a place for a family
@foodreviewguy652 жыл бұрын
I’ve lived in this town for 3 years and has always been in the panhandle. The elementary and high schools suck, but the middle school I’ve heard is actually pretty good. Although you can also send your kids to schools in Freeport or south Walton if you want your kids to have a better education. A ton of kids who live in Freeport and Defuniak actually go all the way down there for school, and I actually do that myself. And the beach is actually only a 35-40 minute drive if you’re going to 30A (Seaside, Grayton, Blue Mountain), which is the closest beach. I make that drive almost every day and it only takes an hour if it’s a Sunday afternoon in the summer (check in day) or if there’s a wreck on 331. Destin and Panama City Beach are an hour drive. I’ve lived with my family here for 3 years and we’ve never had any serious issues. We live in a pretty good part of town, one of the best neighborhoods, but some areas (most of the town, really, anywhere outside the historic district or brand new developments) are not family friendly. There are a lot of drug dealers, drug addicts, and sex offenders in the bad areas of town and on the outskirts, and I wouldn’t recommend living outside of town, especially around the prison or in the mossy head area (basically anywhere off i10 and 90 between Defuniak and Crestview). I’m not gonna say it’s a perfect town, because it definitely has some issues, but I don’t mind living here, my neighborhood is pretty peaceful and quiet and the historic parts are beautiful. And it’s not very far from the beach at all. Hopefully I’ve helped a bit

@@justmanette2152 that area is pretty rough. There’s a lot of drugs and crime in that area. There’s also a lot of sex offenders there too. Not the best part of town, I wouldn’t recommend it

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Thanks! I lived in San Antonio from 2002-2010, but I don’t think I ever saw one. Maybe it wasn’t a thing back then. I live in Destin FL now, and haven’t noticed any. I’m sure I’ll see them around. But I have to say that sounds like a super ridiculous thing to do, and horrible looking.

Jose, that isn't Lambo country. They're down to Earth there. Not pretending to be something else like Miami. We have idiots here that rent them or live in a dump but drive a Range Rover. Not too smart.
