See, I don't think it's realistic. But that's becasue my alcoholic mother didn't end up reacting as positively as Ellie's mom did to a similar conversation. She doesn't associate herself with any of my trauma, to the point she blames my brother for successfully completing a suicide. Atleast Ellie's mom learned from her mistakes.

Omg... Tristan worked my last nerve *constantly*. Maya's perfect home? Sister is a drug addict, her mom has MS, her boyfriend killed himself, Zoë pretended to be her friend and then started a hate page about her photoshopping her head on to nude bodies and Tristan didn't stand by her he just got mad because she wasn't ok with him being besties with her tormentor. She runs herself ragged trying to keep her friends safe: with Zig and the gang, Miles and his dad, Miles and his mental health, Tristan dating his teacher and when she does they all get mad at her for caring. But yeah, it's all sunshine and roses for Maya. Tristan was her worst friend.
