For your fruits try a wire egg slicer. Especially bananas are much easier this way. Sometimes we even push them through long ways. Always even and consistent slices. You can also use a lemon juice dip for fruits to help with color.

I really enjoyed ur video. Soaking ur bananas n apples in lemon juice n water w help stop darkening if ur fruit. You can use parchment paper under sticky fruit to help w sticking. Fruit peels right off the paper...looking forward to ur other videos.

perfect timing for this video! I HAD an old round 5 tray dehydrator that worked ok, but cabelas had their 10 tray unit on sale for 109 bucks this weekend...so I picked one up! After reading a few topics on the subject, they mentioned adding Lemon juice to the fruit to keep it from getting brown. BUT with that said....I like SIMPLE! So I'm glad to see its possible without the extra step. That Coring device you have....MONEY!! I need to definitely get that and a slicer I guess. We have a box of apples in the garage ready to go. Going to add some cinnamon spice to some of them and see how they turn out. Cant wait to make jerky and snack sticks too! Hope you throw a few more follow on videos on this topic and others as well. A bit of feedback for ya: I really appreciate the details in your videos! Keep them LONG and continue to cover the details! I watch them when I know I have the time to apply to them. If IM in a hurry, I save them for later. Thanks!

Great video. Helping my decision towards getting a dehydration unit, 160 litre Cabelas I think. What’s your thoughts on buying a used model to save a few bucks?
@lillianleigh73164 жыл бұрын
Hey mike save your cores stem and all freeze them if necessary until you're ready to use them. Just before you leave for your hunt put the cores in a mason jar along with some sugar and water set them on the counter in a cool dry spot.They will be a refresher for your body after you return. You can leave the sugar out if you like but the sugar does cause the fruit to ferment which is also very good for your body. Put cheese cloth over mouth of jar secure with rubber band. Believe it or not there is more nutrition in the cores than the flesh of the fruit. Check out fermenting fruit on YT.

What about partial freezing of the fruit to firm them up like the bananas before slicing?

Can i do business by using dehydrator like that or i must need a huge machine to dehydrate my fruits ?? Please answer. Thank you for your video i realy lean a tot from you.

I see no reason you can't use one of the larger commercial style units. These units do not measure moisture content, so you will have to judge it or get a moisture tester....

I make turkey chips out of cold cuts dip them in soy sauce and dehydrate them and they weigh next to nothing but they're full of protein and electrolytes
@rusbilak21867 жыл бұрын
why not put the screen behind the slicer, that way the pieces fall right on the screen instead of letting them fall on the table and then having to pick them up with a spatula?
@TreelineAcademy7 жыл бұрын
You hit that on the head... Unfortunately, I did not like the screen, the bananas still stuck a little. I'm onto parchment paper. You were right, that will help.. Thank You for adding that comment, you just helped a few people

Your video helped me out as well. I just bought the Cabela's 80-liter dehydrator and am getting ready to dehydrate some fruits and veggies. Now I'm looking at food slicer reviews, it just never ends.

Pro tip for kiwi, cut the top and bottom as you said, use a spoon to skin them, slide it between the flesh and skin in your palm spin the fruit and slice, bananas on wax paper or a Teflon sheet used for making fruit rollups, great video, prefer longer more detailed videos.

YOU NEED SOME LITTLE BUDGY BIRDS - THEY LOVE TO EAT THOSE CORES. SOMEONE SAID ONLY 20 % OF THEIR DIET IS BIRDSEED. PLUS THEY WILL BE TALKING TO YOU DURING YOUR VIDEOS. GREAT TO FIND YOUR CHANNEL 9:29 BANANAS - BUDGIES LOVE BANANAS AND THE PEELS - LIKE YOU SAY POTASSIUM. THEY LIKE CUT UP SALT LICKS TOO.

I’m sure someone posted this but just in case. Place the dehydrated fruit in the fridge or freezer for about 5 minutes. The stickiness is gone and they’ll slide off easy.

i dont want to be the prude but your sanitary environment is lacking good hygiene. you should be wearing gloves. you should be doing this in a room where nothing can taint your product-you have a dirty floor and you have dead animals 2 feet away from you. not to mention the dust that might be in the air from the machinery. i know your probably going to be the only one eating your product -but you need to do better! for your own health and safety. you could make a room dedicated to just dehydrating food and a table that is not wood because wood holds germs - if you go to craigslist you could buy restaurant equipment for cheap and dont forget you need a bucket of sanitation water with clean towels in it -and another bucket to throw the towels inside of that. plus you need special plastic casings for the light fixtures above your head - i know its a lot but maybe you should start by buying gloves? this was a real good video though! it gave me so many ideas of buying a food dehydrator and perhaps buying a vacuum sealer . thumbs up!

Thanks so much for the reply, and I'm glad you found things that were helpful. Hey you have to die from something! LOL I'm not too worried about it. Over the years, I've trained my body to deal with those conditions.
