Don't have a dehydrator but have done pretty well air drying and finishing in the oven. I have the original Ninja and it has two sizes of containers. The smaller one, about a cup, is better for a lot of things. When I was younger we'd put rice in with the table saltshaker to keep the salt from clumping. Like the idea of putting the blended ones back in a warm onion. Hi from Oregon.

I love those holders. I use them a lot. I had a dehydrator just like yours I got at a thrift store. It worked just fine but did buy a Corsica. Not sure that’s how u spell it but it’s square with the fan in the back. Used it all summer with my harvest from garden. Love it. Wasn’t too expensive. Made onion powder and garlic powder. Yummie

I have a dehydrator in the garage for doing fresh onions. Less fumigation of the house! After we get them out, we proof them at 250F until they just start to get a little golden and pulse them to get the size we want. Adds a wonderful sweet note to the final product.

I dehydrate frozen onions, which for some reason don't give the "tear gas" result. I can get about one bag per dehydrator tray. I also have one with round trays, so to keep them from falling down the hole, I just cover the hole with a jar lid while I'm putting the onions on the tray.

A quick explanation of why ground spices lose their flavor faster than whole spices. Think about a block of cheese. It has six sides exposed to air. If you cut that block in half the cheese now has twelve sides exposed to air and dries out quicker. Ground spices have many sides exposed to air causing the essential oils to dry out faster meaning it taste less flavorful. The more exposed sides the quicker the loss of flavor. That was longer than I wanted to be but I hope it makes sense.

Sourdough starter is easy to dehydrate. I will make a video at some point, but all you need to do is feed it and let it get to peak and then spread it very thin on some parchment paper or silicone and let it sit out until it dries completely. You don’t need to heat it or put it in a dehydrator🙂
