I’ve been eyeing the Deity Theos kit to replace our 20+ year old Lectrosonics UCR201 systems. The Lectro stuff is solid but it’s big and it is heavy. I love the idea of a two channel receiver that is half the size of one Lectro receiver. Have a great time at NAB!

Outstanding review Scott. Not being able to transmit and record simultaneously is a massive bummer. Does the timecode get passed on to the camera audio? I'd image it wouldn't be necessary if the camera is synced. Thanx for sharing this.

How many transmitters can be connected to the receiver? Can the receiver jam timecode on a canon R8?

So would you say better choice than Senn G4 for a starter mini bag kit?
@ScottBalkum7 ай бұрын
I like them much more than my Sennheisers.

Wait, so the BP-TRX kit CAN record and transmit because it has a License from Zaxcom, but the Theos they didn't get a license for?
@ScottBalkum9 ай бұрын
Yea, licenses are tricky. I don’t know why one did and the new can’t, but I suspect they discontinued the first one to prevent lawsuits. The other companies are going through lawsuits right now.

I livestream every week using it. I love it.

Man, I don’t ever feel comfortable buying a lav mic or newer lenses with how things just keep coming out right after each other so quickly. Do you have any recommendations for buying a lav mic+system and only crying once about the purchase?
@ScottBalkum9 ай бұрын
Well, that depends on what you plan on doing with it. The Theos system is one of those systems that you may only need to buy once. There are situations where buying a more expensive system may benefit you, but it needs to make financial sense too. The Sennheisers were one of those buy once, cry once. But even then, I needed to replace them with something better at one point. A Lectrosonics transmitter could easily cost your almost 2X the price of this entire set. But, do you need that? Great question. Lecs are awesome but extreme overkill unless you are doing audio as a full time job working big budget sets constantly. You just need to decide for yourself what you need and weigh the options.

I used these for my RED NAB interview. I had no problems getting a good clean signal even in the RF crowded hall.

Rechargeable internal batteries are just a joke in a prosumer/professional product. Means the product has a guaranteed life span when the battery inevitably degrades. Also means, it dies during your shoot? It's just game over for shooting that day. (Even if the battery life is enough for 12 hours or whatever when brand new, after 4 years?) But the internal recording (finally, yay UK, we get something the US doesn't 😂) is a fantastic feature and nice to see it on a proper UHF wireless system. Only takes one shoot with crowded UHF channels to really wish you had one!

Maybe someday the US will get it… :(

Apologies if this is a simple question, but this product doesn't use internal rechargeable batteries does it? You can use regular AAs? Just asking as I'm looking at getting the set, and agree with you - I would much prefer not to deal with internal batteries
@ScottBalkum6 ай бұрын
@@ScottCraigShorts It uses all the types of AA batteries.
