In this series of videos, we visit past and present Tan Son Nhut Air Force Base, including Republic Street, Radomes, Base Exchange (BX), Hotel 3 Heliport, 7th Air Force HQ, 224th Aviation Battalion Aviation Maintenance Office and Davis Station.

This brought back many memories. I served 2 of my 3 Vietnam tours at Tan Son Nhut, both times with 7 AF (Jan 1968-Apr 1969 & Feb 1970-Aug 1971). My barracks were adjacent to the Hotel 3 helipad. My first tour was with the 4th Corps DASC (Direct Air Support Center) in Can Tho (Aug 1966-Aug 1967).

I was there in 70-71.Went to the base theater to watch the Beatles movie,Let It Be. My unit shared the USARV hanger that Borntowander worked at.My unit was the 1st Mibars aviation Det.Anyone remember us?Our Det.C.O.was Capt. Carr,then Capt.Jacobowski.Our call sign was the Good Guys.

I was Tower Chief, Hotel-3, 313th ASD, 165th CAG, US Army in 1969. Lots of memories. Thanks for the great work on combining the old with the new. Would like to have seen the VNAF Officer's club.

On or near payday we would go get a steak at the VNAF O Club. I worked Law Enforcement for the 377th SPS. Loves their asparagus and crabmeat soup!

This is a great work of art. I was stationed with the 509th RR Group on MACV Annex from 1969 - 1971. I transported troups from BenHoa to our barracks, the first two on the left entering the annex by the old power plant. I was a SGT at the transient barracks there. I remember visiting every area you had video on. Thanks for a nice presentation. Dave Glaser

I served with an Army signal group near TSN USAF base 7/66 - 7/67, really like your then and now video segments. Hard to make people understand we didn't all serve in the same kind of jungle. Very glad to have found your channel, thanks for sharing.

Great job with the overlays and explanation! I was an ER medic at TSN and lived in the 377APS (SPS) compound. It was right across the street from Hotel 3. At times, it seemed the helos would barely clear the tops of the barracks with their skids. Sierra Hotel!

Assigned 377 USAF Hosp, X-Ray 69-70 - great to see the overlays. Why did I think it would be the same after 40+ years. Saw the edge of the hospital and the barrack where I slept in the SPS cantonment. Man. oh, man...thanks, borntowander

The old control tower is still there, now as an emergency response center. The revetment along the runway is to be removed to make room some new construction.

Same here! I was a 377th SPS Law Enforcement Patrolman and Desk Jockey. Worked in Bldg. 19!

I really enjoy your videos and I’m sure this will help me in the future. I’m planning on returning to Saigon in 2020, it will be my 50th anniversary since being station at TSN with the 377th SPS. If the domes are still there I ought to be able to get fairly close to the 1300 area. Thanks again.

Does anyone remember when the Radar Domes were adorned with fluorescent tubes in the shape of a Christmas Tree and I believe a star or Cross? 1969 377th SPS Law Enforcement. Charlie dropped several 122's into the USA 69th Signal Corp. Compound. My memory is fading but I always walked to the 1300 area from Bldg 19.

Vietnam has been changing dramatically every year. A problem with many Asian countries is that they focus so much on growth and ignore the preservation part. Many relics of the Vietnam war era are now long gone.

That was very well done. I was stationed there October 70-January 72 at AMMC on the SE corner of the runways. I had to make at least 2 runs a day every day to Hotel 3.

I lived in Saigon from 1966 to 1971 with my parents, and would go to Hotel 3 to hitch rides with the Razorbacks and other aviation units to various areas around SVN! Watched movies like MASH, The Green Berets and Catch 22 at the theater across the street!

I was stationed at TSN June 69-June70 with HQ's 7th Air Force (DOCC) WOW! What memories this brings back. Had some wild n crazy times with some really cool guys. Worked part time as a bar back at Officer's Club and loved the special entertainment that was brought in weekly. Thanks for sharing the video dude! Loved it!!

Yes indeed! Met him when I was assigned to the 7th AF Post-- Guard Shack or Entry Control Point! Both the Drive way and Inside the Compound under the Entrance from the General's Quarters! Friends to this day!@@guns4uandme
