Das war damals sowas von unvorstellbar, so ein Weltstar wechselt nach Hütteldorf ... sowas wird's auch nie wieder geben ... denk ich. Genießt die Highlights von Il Genio .. leider zu oft verletzt gewesen aber WENN er gespielt hat dann wars meist ein Genuss zum zuschauen.
Savicevic gewann im Laufe seiner Karriere mit Roter Stern Belgrad den Europacup der Meister und mit dem AC Milan die Champions League. Er erinnere sich gerne an die Zeit, als er bei Rapid spielte: “Ich habe noch einmal befreit aufspielen können. Rapid war ein würdevoller Abschluss meiner Karriere.”

Ich war 12 und hatte ein Match am Trainingsgelände beim Happelstadion. Bin am Weg zum Feld und die Wege eines großgewachsenen Mannes in einem Rapid Trainingsanzug und mir kreuzen sich. Wir sehen uns in die Augen. Ich denk mir das is doch Dejan fucking Savicevic. Nein, unmöglich. Ich komme nach dem Match heim und gehe auf Teletextseite 200. Dejan Savicevic wechselt zu Rapid.

@@birdoffire983 My opinion is not randem or biased .l saw them both since thay started Until finished their carieers. In terms of abilities Dejan was only faster then Stojkovic was more completed in every element of the game and had better lidership physiognomy. When thay played with Zvezda every body knows that Piksi was nr 1 and Dejan nr 2 and Prosinecki nr 3 .Thay played again together in National Team from 1996 to 2001 It was clear again Piksi was the Marshall and Dejan his deputy .I was in stadium in Athens in 1994 and Dejan did great ,It.s true but against a delusional Barcelona. In the final of Bari 1991 Dejan didn.t catch a ball like in Italy 90 were Piksi was Maradona instead of Maradona. Dejan himself once said that the only one who could and did me a bencher was Piksi .Stojkovic was like Maradona when he got the ball hardly did loose It. Dejan was a ball consumer Prosinecki was a time consumer,while Dzajic had both flaws ,ball and time consumer .Piksi had no luck when he reached his prime injuries destroyed his career. Arsen Wenger cosider him the best player he ever coached. If Savicevic is better than Henry (best premier League player ever)than l beg your Pardon .

@@gertipuleshi5420 I envy you if you got to see these guys play in the flesh! All I can say is from what I see. There is a match between Red Star and Buducnost in early 1988 in Belgrade. From the highlights, Savicevic outshines Piksi with a beautiful dribble around a Red Star defender and provides a cross for Budo's goal. Piksi, playing for a stronger side, can only provide a generic cross. As for the Bari final, the whole Red Star team did not catch a ball. But there is one moment where Savicevic skips around Waddle as if he is not there , and then provides a defense splitting pass for Binic which just missed the post. The best move of the game from either side.

@@gertipuleshi5420 Savicevic also did great against Argentina in 90'. Fantastic dribbles and slightly unlucky with the finishes. Savicevic also did well against Spain in 90'. His dribbles and pace left the Spanish players looking at their own Tika Taka! Yugoslavia should have played Savicevic from the beginning of those matches in 90'. Not as a sub.

Good point…. A distant uncle of mine was a football referee in the old Yugo divisions. He said Piksi is a genius etc, BUT When Dejo has the ball it’s almost impossible to get it off him. To me Dejo has more killer instinct & grit than the flashy Piksi. Both are spectacular.
