Great Britain invaded Afghanistan in 1838. It wanted to reinstall Shah Shuja Durrani, a grandson of Ahmad Shah Abdali, as the king of Afghanistan. The British expeditionary force was dubbed the Army of the Indus. The British wanted to oust the then Afghan Emir, Dost Mohammad, and make Afghanistan a buffer state between India and the Tsar Empire of Russia. Maharaja Ranjit Singh denied the British the safe route to invade Afghanistan. However the Khan of Kalat, Mir Mahrab Khan and the Emirs of Sidh allowed them to do so. Here is reality of Afghan history: Kabul was part of HinduShahi Sultanate, at it remained like this till Shah of Ghaznavi, Subaktageen and later his Son Mehmood of Ghazna defeated HinduShahi Sultanate... Later, came Ghourids, and then it was taken by Babar, who was kicked out of Central Asia and had no where to go, Zaheer-ud-din Babar captured Kabul and for next 300+ years Kabul was under Delhi, The Mughal Sultanate... With the fall of Mughal, Kabul changed hands... Eventually falling under British Empire, who kept it as their Vassel State... It was not untill USSR invaded and captured Afghanistan in less than 50 hours in latw 70s, and Afghans were glamorized and stories of their gallant past was fabricated with the help of USDs... For the notion that no one can control Afghan land... Afghanistan belonged to Mughals, and before them to Temorids, before them It was part of Khawarzam Shahi, before that, Turkic Rulers of Ghazni and Ghorids... All these Sultantes Died out eventually!!!

This is a big Lie!! But! Though, they did not, bit they did captured some area of pushtons, belonged to Afghanistan from where Afganistan begins, means Border Areas. And that also was Nominal. How did it happened? First of all Maharaja Ranjit Singh empire was Backed By Britishers and many European powers as we know from proper history!! During the time Afghanistan was in serious internal conflicts, anarchy and civil war that prevailed in Afghan Royal Family and fighting over the crown was a daily routine. The Maharaj Ranjit Singh army with the help of British East India Company,{(after the treaty of Amritsar April25, 1809. Pact concluded between Charles T. Metcalfe Represnting The British East India Company and Ranjit Singh Head of The Sikh Kingdom of Punjab.The Treaty setteled Indo-Sikh Relation for a genration)} attacked the western parts and captured it. and The weapons used by Ranjit Singh Army was most advanced and the fire power was great. They were not fighting with all Afganistan. it was small tribes of Afghan people who were fighting with Britshers and Sikh Empire for Peshawar. [(If we read Actual Proper history then we know that Hari Singh and Ranjit Singh never faced any disciplined army in Peshawar but irregular fighters from small Pashtoon Tribes. Hari Singh only for once faced a regular Afghan Army at Jamrud where he was killed.)] Despite having a great central army, the government of the time was so busy in internal conflicts that they didn’t care to even support the state government. This lead to the separation of the Peshawar from Afghanistan, and a 100 year lease contract of the area was signed later by the ruler of Afghanistan with the British.*
