Mixing these two produces disastrous results, as our countries have witnessed during 1947 partition, when more than a million people lost their lives in that widespread madness and hatred. I always wonder, why can't the Radcliffe line dissappear like the Berlin Wall and the entire sub-continent can stand as one nation, so that our entire focus will be on development, development and development. Defence expenditures can be significantly reduced and there shall be no suspicion abot any extremism about any country as RAW & ISI will be integrated into one entity. Just think about before the partition days, when the British Indian Armed Forces were to be divided, farewell ceremonies were arranged within the forces and officers were moved into tears, they hugged each other. Many thought that it was just like a transfer from Delhi to Karachi and they would return to meet and greet each other. But destiny was more cruel to them, very shortly they faced each other in confrontation and war. Even, two brothers fought against each other in a war as commanders of their respetive troops who belonged to a Royal family (Nawab of Lucknow) and one of them had chosen to join the Pakistani Army, because of the chance of more promotion in a new force. He could not have imagined that he would confront with his own brother in a fiarce battle and one of them died there, when the surviver came near and found that his brother was no more, he cried aloud and saluted the martyr.
