@@Smug-Sonic on squigly point, center stage is strong because you can cancel center stage into special, normally sing. and its unblockable , so, as squigly point, you can be like: don't wanna play neutral anymore. but as an assist, you bring people closer to you, and you can't cancel it into special, so if they are blocking, you are just gonna turn neutral game into a block string, with assists on cooldown, so if you are not plus in that engagement, you are going to get punished.

drill allows for conversions yea, but its sometimes hard to hit (i think, ive never used it becuase i needed h-updo)

Unfortunate that they nerfed the north knuckle assist. It's still works normally on hit, but on block the medium and heavy versions dont do the second punch. edit: the fixed her arms, they arent broken anymore and she does the second hit

by the way you speak, it sounds like there's only 2 or 3 assists per character, even tho custom assists are possible, so, is that simply because one video covering all normal and special moves is honestly overkill and unnecessary, or is there a tournament rule that says one can only use the game's default assists at majors?

no assists are banned and people play assists that aren't mentioned here, but this video is for people picking up the game and these assists are the best for 99% of the playerbase

how does unblockable protection work in this game?

There's a period of time after a H / L is blocked before the opposite type can work. Example from the vid: 2:12. He mentions delaying the low ( to get around unblock pro ). I'm not sure what the specifics are but I'm sure that's the gist of it.

highs/lows hitting within 7f (iirc) will be blocked like normal

Looking to play beowulf. I’m new to this game but familiar with other FG’s. How should I structure my team? I was told run band 100% with either Brass or A train assist. Just not sure outside of cerebella what would complete the team.

Personally I just run a Robo Band shell for everything. H Beam does it all as Sage said and then I can pick and choose what specific Band assist would help me best with my point character (usually A Train for Beo). Also running just Beo Band duo is completely valid and viable. You don't need a third.

Painwheel has a very good assist in medium nail. It moves the same speed as a lot of dashes, and at the same level as a lot of projectiles. It can act as a sort of shield, getting rid of a projectile. It works actually quite a bit like Peacock’s L George

It's decent but I wouldn't call it very good imo. It's start up is slow and it's only one hit. The confirms it gives robo is it's best feature but like idk it's so clunky. I tried running it to replace l.shot so I could play pillar and it was almost unplayable to me it felt so gross. I use l.pin at a slightly closer range and it covers that niche better
