super helpful! if I live in California and create a Delaware LLC, I'll have to file as a foreign LLC within CA. Is there a fee for this within CA?

Yes, if you form a Delaware LLC but conduct business in California, you'll need to register as a foreign LLC in California. The state requires a filing fee for this,. Make sure to check with the California Secretary of State for the most up-to-date information.
