box skills. btb or over the shoulder are not lucky or gimmick shots but a required skill to succeed indoors. it translates so well outdoors because rather than wasting time & space switching hands, you make your defender a screen and the goalie can't see your stick swing. if you are a field goalie playing a box stick, you better be prepared for the btb/ots or you are sofl.

note that on robinson's btb that appears to be a designed play. he is playing slow onhand as he drifts from right to left. then he sprints down the left wing and the feeder knows he's coming. the defender is between robinson and the goalie and is only thinking all i got to do is push him wide and behind the goal. its a good cover for what he thinks is all that he needs to do, but its a country mile of separation for a box player. i have never met a serious box lacrosse player that ever feared a pole, they relish it. because the poles are more concerned about protecting their space. box coverage is tight, stick on the glove, and its all about making the runner feel the weight. its not smash mouth but its physical and you can't over commit. what made robinson's goal special is that he did it on the run, and went from catch to shot in a step in one motion.

1:32 #43 and #44 for Gtown spend too much time communicating through an off ball exchange preventing #43 from helping down on the post (at least that's what it seems like #99 was trying to say after the goal) 10:34 #43 and #44 have a clean off ball exchange 15:49 I thought Gtown was switching off ball with poles but here they have 4 poles up top and potentially could have prevented this goal if #43 wasn't just glued on his guy 19:55 Crazy how the miscommunication between #43 and #44 during the first Delaware goal was the same mistake that cost them the game on the last goal.
