Mourinho made the same observation we all would make not knowing his story and just watching the player's attitude. Good on him to quickly realize that it wasn't as simple as him being "Lazy" and apologizing to alli a week after he arrived.

Judging by his interview he’s already there mate! He’s found some kind of peace and even if he doesn’t get back to that number 10 role well I’ll always remember that goal against palace. He will get there! He’s got similarities to Gazza but it’s a different era now and things can change for Del Boy whereas with Gazza it was too late in football terms. Just look back on some of them right footed volleys Dele scored. You never lose that kind of skill, that’s something he was born with and he can come back and he will never lose that natural technique not ever. Good look Del!

This is by far the most powerful interview any footballer has ever done, period. As someone who caged up trauma from childhood and let it lead my life for years, I can relate to everything he’s saying. I make this promise to anyone who is going through any type of depression. When you are ready to seek help, and open your eyes to the world again, you’ll be amazed at the freedom you feel. Keep pushing.

Totally agree @aaronsmith7828 we keep everything in and it effects our life. We lose relationships and keep a guard between ourselves and those we can’t trust due to these traumas. I think it’s brave for him to do this interview and it makes total sense as why he has always had to defend himself on the pitch the way he does. Poor lad we have all dragged him through the mud for his so called “lack of interest” but trauma has controlled him all his life. Any one or any footballer needs our support.
@DM-vo2ke
@DM-vo2ke 10 ай бұрын
So sorry to hear you've struggled and amazing that you've found a way through. But, I have to challenge that statement about feeling free. Everyone's depression is unique and so you can't necessarily understand how other people feel. In this case (and yours from the sound of it) it's clearly linked back to a trigger event and whilst you'll always carry the scars, you can address the root cause and free yourself from the depression. However, there are people who suffer from Chronic depression and luckily they may never have had your trauma but equally they will never be free of it. Medication and therapy can help but they will always suffer from depression no matter what. What they need are some tools to manage it and having a great network of people around them (if they're lucky enough too) Definitely, everyone should open up and seek help when ready as that is liberating but for some, it's here to stay and it's important that people realise that rather than thinking help will alleviate it completely.

Gary said, he wasn’t expecting that, I certainly wasn’t. I think it was a natural reaction, reaching out to someone in distress. We’ll have all learnt from that. I don’t think any harm was done.

Gary spontaneously comforting dele like that for me was possibly the most moving part of this entire interview. Such a tough moment for both men, palpable discomfort but gn behaved like a real human. If someone gets offended because someone else displays empathy, i find it’s usually because they don’t have enough

Deli I was abused by my father from the age of 4 until I was 15. I left home at 18 and for nearly 5 years I was homeless on the streets of London. Deli your a survivor and yes by speaking out in the way you are firstly brings tears to my eyes because know child should ever ever be abused full stop. Secondly you my friend will change lives for the better and I firmly believe that your talent on the football field will shine brightly again. I just want to wish you all the best for your future. Came on against Palace and changed the game for us, wouldn't have gotten that result without him. @@jamesandrews1545 he's only got 6 games to make an impact before we pay Tottenham £10 mil, which is why we loaned him out and why he hasn't played much for us, really unfair on him because we don't have the luxury to spend that, he ideally needs a fresh start somewhere with the right people around him and a club who's willing to put in the time with him

@@stenbergskij101 If you google, you’ll find he’s addressed that criticism plenty of times…but you probably know that and just choose to ignore it. Yes Neville’s loaded, but it’s clear he backs up his politics in what he says and does. The idea that liberals with money should be martyrs and show solidarity by living in poverty is bollocks frankly. They should use their privilege and platform for the vulnerable and oppressed, and people like Neville and Lineker do. The fact is you don’t get an interview like that from someone with a more right-wing outlook, because there generally is less tolerance, empathy and understanding of different experiences to their own, and the interviewee doesn’t reveal anything. In fact, it’s almost certain that the right-leaning elements of the press were the ones ready to expose this story against Dele Alli’s will. Really pleased that he got his message across properly by speaking to someone genuinely decent and compassionate. If there’s anyone immorally after money at the expense of others, it’s the gutter press, not Gary Neville.
