He will get there! He’s got similarities to Gazza but it’s a different era now and things can change for Del Boy whereas with Gazza it was too late in football terms. Just look back on some of them right footed volleys Dele scored. You never lose that kind of skill, that’s something he was born with and he can come back and he will never lose that natural technique not ever. Good look Del!

I won't lie, I never liked Dele Alli and a lot of that comes down to bitterness as an Arsenal fan I'll admit. So naturally I bought into the narratives of him being lazy, not working hard, having poor work ethic and was loving his fall from grace. This interview though really turned me around. Brought me back to remember you never really know what goes on behind the scenes. I wish nothing but the best for this guy and hope he finds himself again. This is by far the most powerful interview any footballer has ever done, period. As someone who caged up trauma from childhood and let it lead my life for years, I can relate to everything he’s saying. I make this promise to anyone who is going through any type of depression. When you are ready to seek help, and open your eyes to the world again, you’ll be amazed at the freedom you feel. Keep pushing.
@enzopiresaudio
@enzopiresaudio Жыл бұрын
Totally agree @aaronsmith7828 we keep everything in and it effects our life. We lose relationships and keep a guard between ourselves and those we can’t trust due to these traumas. I think it’s brave for him to do this interview and it makes total sense as why he has always had to defend himself on the pitch the way he does. Poor lad we have all dragged him through the mud for his so called “lack of interest” but trauma has controlled him all his life. Any one or any footballer needs our support.
@DM-vo2ke
@DM-vo2ke Жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear you've struggled and amazing that you've found a way through. But, I have to challenge that statement about feeling free. Everyone's depression is unique and so you can't necessarily understand how other people feel. In this case (and yours from the sound of it) it's clearly linked back to a trigger event and whilst you'll always carry the scars, you can address the root cause and free yourself from the depression. However, there are people who suffer from Chronic depression and luckily they may never have had your trauma but equally they will never be free of it. Medication and therapy can help but they will always suffer from depression no matter what. What they need are some tools to manage it and having a great network of people around them (if they're lucky enough too) Definitely, everyone should open up and seek help when ready as that is liberating but for some, it's here to stay and it's important that people realise that rather than thinking help will alleviate it completely.

Yes Neville’s loaded, but it’s clear he backs up his politics in what he says and does. The idea that liberals with money should be martyrs and show solidarity by living in poverty is bollocks frankly. They should use their privilege and platform for the vulnerable and oppressed, and people like Neville and Lineker do. The fact is you don’t get an interview like that from someone with a more right-wing outlook, because there generally is less tolerance, empathy and understanding of different experiences to their own, and the interviewee doesn’t reveal anything. In fact, it’s almost certain that the right-leaning elements of the press were the ones ready to expose this story against Dele Alli’s will. Really pleased that he got his message across properly by speaking to someone genuinely decent and compassionate. If there’s anyone immorally after money at the expense of others, it’s the gutter press, not Gary Neville.

@@jamesandrews1545 he's only got 6 games to make an impact before we pay Tottenham £10 mil, which is why we loaned him out and why he hasn't played much for us, really unfair on him because we don't have the luxury to spend that, he ideally needs a fresh start somewhere with the right people around him and a club who's willing to put in the time with him

*Immense respect to Dele for having the courage to open up about his struggles. Seeing someone with his profile be this vulnerable about addiction and trauma is so powerful. His story will undoubtably inspire others going through similar battles to know they are not alone. Speaking up is brave. Seeking help is brave. No matter how hard things get, there is always hope. Dele embodies the strength it takes to acknowledge pain in order to heal. His desire to use his platform to connect with people and make a difference during difficult times is truly admirable. This conversation shines light on issues that are often stigmatized but so deeply affect lives. I hope it sparks more open, compassionate dialogue around mental health. Wishing Dele continued healing and happiness ahead. His honesty and empathy in this episode will stay with me.*

Also what I love about him is that he doesn't beg for sympathy. Pogba had a similar interview a year ago and he was like "United never trusted me. Mourinho was mean to me. The fans booed me. They all destroyed me" Dele kept repeating "Mourinho gave me tough love but he couldn't know and later he apologized The media lied about me many times but I was to blame for that Managers after Poch seemed fake to me but they were not actually fake. I just didn't want to listen to them because I wanted to close myself Players tried to help me but I didn't listen I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me. I'm the main responsible as I'm the one who made the mistakes. I just want people to understand where my poor judgment comes from " That is true maturity

@@mrjones1696 Not quite sure I follow. For me, it’s nothing to do with life post Covid or people “being soft”. It’s been clear to me for ages that this guy was battling demons and, still, many people were quick to call him lazy or overpaid. All I’ve ever seen is a genuine guy who’s had issues - until now, we didn’t know what they were but he’s been brave enough to speak out. Maybe provoked by media threats of exposing him. But he told his story really well and I have loads of respect for his honesty. As I say, I’d just love him to succeed either on the pitch or just by being happy and healthy.
