@annie frank it was Stephen's funeral. And no, Nina was still the actress. Elena had just woken up after a long 'slumber' that made her look like that. (At least that's why I think she looked different. She wasn't really in the last two seasons.)

There are many scenes that I would have liked to remain, but the last one if I think it was essential that it had not been removed as it fits perfectly with what happens, each person delivers something of what Stefan gave in his own way and the last gifts of Elena, Carolina and especially Daemon says a lot, they should include it in a DVD 📀 or special edition.

I wondered the same thing. It's the other way around. Elena convinced Stefan that Damon was worth saving. Stefan even admits, "She reminded me that I used to believe that about him too." At some point, Stefan stopped believing Damon was worth loving. His comment would've contradicted the others. Elena was the one always saving Damon, even so much as stopping Stefan from killing him after he killed Lexi.

There were a couple of times that Elena did try to give up on Damon, and Stefan would talk to her about not giving up on him. Like when he snapped Jeremy's neck in front of her. In season 5, when they were on and off and Damon was trying to push her away, it was Stefan who told her not to give up on him and that they will work it out and how they make each other better. In season 6, after she erased her good memories of Damon, and when he came back, she didn't want to know or see him, but it was Stefan who got through to her about wanting her memories back and to give Damon a chance.
