I had no idea there were two types of HICAS systems (hydraulic and electric). Always learn something new.

I love my hicas. But I have the earliest hydraulic hicas and is prone to overheating on track days. 93 and later had electric hicas and I’d keep that if I had it. In 1991 the 300zx was actually faster than the nsx in the slalom. Look it up in road and track. HICAS lets you do some amazing high speed sweepers.

My buddy has an R33 with Super HICAS and it works great to be honest. If maintained well it is a boon in high speed corners and lane changes. One time at about 60mph we slipped sideways and the HICAS kept us going straight ahead and out of the barriers. All accidents related to the HICAS "acting funny " seem to be driver error trying to correct what the car can correct by itself imo

Fun fact the Group A GT500 R32 GT-Rs' had fully functional HICAS systems and dominated the circuit with 650bhp on tap
@Billy_BuiltАй бұрын
That's really cool! I Think the Hicas becomes it bit much to use in a Z making 500+. Being they are RWD the rear end can kick out and the hicas can really screw with the counter steer that is needed to correct.
@kinslayergaming3159Ай бұрын
@Billy_Built my buddy was pushing about 800 rwhp before we decided to further upgrade the engine, his car is a GTST. When we slid out on the highway he barely countersteered as we felt the car correct all on its own. The system is really smart in the r33 I would assume the Z32 would have similar ability.

Tires also play a role, he had r888r once on a another car and they didn't seem to ever grip when needed. He switched to falken tires and never had problems again

I used to have the hydraulic one. I pulled ALL the lines and put a loop on the steering pump. The next goal is to rebuild a non-tt pump to eliminate the loop and hopefully another point of failure.

I just realized my car has electric Hicas, it was no wonder these other videos were misleading and here I am trying to install washers onto mine trying to prevent it from moving so it don’t kill me at highway speeds ! May I ask, what exactly did you do with your cluster Hicas light ? Did it come on after installing this kit ? Other than removing the bulb, what exactly can you do to turn the light off ? I’m really wanting to remove my Hicas but I’m clueless on where to get started or if installing washers will prevent it from moving any ? Tia ..

I just removed the bulb and disconnected the HICAS module.
