Mustafabad is an assembly constituency in 70-members Delhi Vidhan Sabha. This Muslim Dominant area elected a BJP candidate Jagdish Pradhan as their MLA in 2015 Delhi Assembly Polls. The reason behind this, people say, was polarisation. In Delhi Elections 2020, BJP has again fielded Jagdish Pradhan. His main contenders are Haji Yunus from Aam Aadmi Party and Ali Mehdi from Congress. Ali Mehdi is the son of former Congress MLA Hasan Ahmed.
People in Mustafabad, especially the Muslim population, are not happy with the work of incumbent BJP MLA Jagdish Pradhan. Jagdish Pradhan, according to these people, ignored the Muslims of area. As far as the Arvind Kejriwal government is concerned, opinion of these people is divided.
Voting for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held on February 8, 2020. There is a three-cornered contest between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), and United Progressive Alliance (UPA).
