During our Dubai Food Tour we decided to pay a visit to Global Village which is an ultimate destination for those seeking a one-of-a-kind experience revolving around culture, shopping, entertainment, food and fun.
Dubai Global Village is an annual multicultural event that usually runs from November to April of each year and attracts millions of visitors.
With over 70 countries from being present at one place it is an unforgettable place for food enthusiasts spanning from street food to gourmet food. Let's walk you through this amusing food walk here along with our gracious local hosts Mona and Lalatendu.
It was a very ecstatic scene inside the venue with people from all age groups flocking together for an entertaining time. We started by having some freshly fried luquaimat which is a traditional Emirati sweet dish. Those golden brown balls were served with a generous drizzle of dates syrup. Every bite felt like a comfort.
Next we had some roatsed chestnut which was nutty and fun. This was followed by Turkish ice cream. More than the ice cream, it is the amusing theatrics involved in serving it, that attracts ones attention. This strechy, chewy and luscious ice cream was quite satisfying.
After a brief stroll we stopped by the floating market area. There we had some griilled octopus, prawns and mussels in butter garlic sauce. The octopus had a very distinct smell which while the prawns and mussels were amazing. This was followed by mango with chikki pode and salt and durian. Due to it's strong unpleasant smell the Durian was a challenge to have but trying it was a unique experience.
Our last stop was Bundoo Khan, a popular Pakistani restaurant chain famous for BBQ, biryani, and karahi. It is a place worth trying.
The genial owner treated us to a scrumptious spread and some heartwarming stories.
Overall, a food tour in Dubai Global Village gave us the opportunity to explore different cultures through their cuisine and enjoy a unique culinary experience.
