Yum ... I love all kinds of beets ! I've made these for years almost like you ... Except I drain the liquid off of the beets into a pot , add the sugar , & the vinegar , & bring to a boil . Then I add the cornstarch liquid small amount at a time to desired thickness using a whisk . When it gets to the desired thickness , I add my beets to the sauce , cover with a lid , turn off burner , & allow to sit for about 5 mins . Carefully remove the lid so to not allow condensation to drip back into my beets . Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe for all beet lovers to enjoy ! 😍

This is a good recipe for Harvard beets. I add a tablespoon of butter at the end to make a delicious glossy sauce. Yum!

I love sweet and sour beets. My aunt introduced them to me when we were caring for my dad many years ago. I’m the only one in my family that eats them.🙃💖

Yum! I love Harvard Beets! My mom made them all the time! We’d always have them with her homemade macaroni and cheese! I loved dipping my macaroni in the sauce! I made them too for my husband and kids while they were growing up. Our recipe is a bit different but not by much. Same ingredients. Thanks for sharing Glenda! Makes me think of my mom who I miss every hour of everyday. She’s been gone 16 months now. Thanks for bringing back great warm memories!💞

Couldn’t you use beet juice I stead of the water?
@romance6982 жыл бұрын
You do not need all that. Just open the can and with the cover of the can on the can, purr the liquid on the pot, add the sugar, corn starch and the vinegar. Stir to dissolve everything and add the beets to the pot. Coock on low until the liquid thickens and that is all.

Why not use fresh beets??

Sugar and carbohydrate consumption is proportional to body size. You have stretched your body as far as it can go. You must cut the sugar and carbs out of your diet, and you will shed weight and never feel hungry. After you go through sugar withdrawal (yes, it is a drug, and when you give your body the nutrients it desires, you won't crave sugar), you will find beets are naturally sweet enough, and all the products in your cupboards are poisoned intentionally with gross amounts of sugar. I made fresh beets last night for a side dish with my fish. I smothered them in unsalted butter and pink salt; they were naturally sweet and very satisfying. If you eliminate sugar, you will eliminate the synthetic pills you are taking for all the ailments these bad foods cause. I don't mean this comment in a harmful way, but to possibly save your life.
