You can get a single squared version of the parenthood wall lights :) They are either slightly above or slightly below the ones you grabbed in the catalog. I love redoing this apartment. There are so many ways to do the floor plan in this apartment. 😍

Teal is a greenish-blue colour. Its name comes from that of a bird-the Eurasian teal -which presents a similarly coloured stripe on its head. I love this renovation and the color palette😍

with the stove next to the fridge thing, i've only ever seen it done once and it was in my dad's old house. the counters and sink were along one wall and the fridge and stove were stand alone- beside one another on the opposite wall. So it was similar to a galley kitchen but also not exactly a galley kitchen.

Yay, I spent all day yesterday renovating the giant Alto apartment as a 2 bedroom + butlers quarters w/ 4 bathrooms after watching your recent videos :). I found the brown door very bossy and ended up going deep brown woodtones (matching woodtones where possible 🙃) and used all the most formal furniture and art just to see if I could make it nice. I usually do a more contemporary mix so was a fun experiment. Now I have all day today to spend cluttering 😝

I'm continuing to enjoy the apartment renos. Suggestions: Maybe you could reno all the apartments in the Jasmine Suites Apartments and all the ones in the Alto Apartments. Maybe you could do a video showing off the Furniture Showroom Pack by Sixam. If you wanted to, you could created a list using Google Sheets for what you have renovated and what you haven't in TS4. One tab could be for apartments, one tab for residential and another for community. If you did do something like this, you could found out if there is any place you have never renovated.

Re: doors opening into toilets. Standard architecture follows the rule of the right handed. Must people are right handed so doors going INTO a new space will have the handle on the left & the hinge on the right. The big exception to this is doors also should open against a wall when available. So if you are entering a 2x3 side at the center of the space the door should open in. If that means it opens into the toilet then either move the toilet or that's just how the door opens. I've lived in MANY spaces where doors opened officially because they were designed for right handed movement regardless of whether or not that made any sense at all otherwise.

My stove is right next to the fridge, but it's a pretty small kitchen. One wall has justt the fridge, then the stove, then you curve around to the countertops.

I suspect she does it for aesthetic reasons - sometimes a long line of counters look a little odd in the Sims, it's nice to break things up. I was curious, so I looked up practical reasons to do this in real life. In a busy kitchen, particularly a professional kitchen, being able to have one person access the stove while someone else accesses the oven is important. The reason I found really interesting because I hadn't thought of this, is that if there's no stovetop above the oven, you can mount the oven at any height you want. This lets you put the oven higher up, where it's a lot easier to move heavy pans in and out of. I think this would be a game changer for someone with physical disabilities - imagine trying to safely remove a turkey from a traditional oven while in a wheelchair. In the US, this isn't the norm, so it's more expensive, I think it's mostly used in a professional kitchens and customized luxury kitchens. But I know in Japan (and I think in China too?), it's common for kitchens to not have a full oven, because it just isn't used in their cooking as often as it is in the US. So it's common and much cheaper to just have a stovetop. Sometimes you will also have a built-in broiler or small grill that fits a full fish nicely, but would never fit a full chicken or turkey like we do in the US. And sometimes they buy a countertop toaster oven or convection microwave. I suspect one of the reasons the Sims included those options is because they have a strong international fanbase, and a "normal kitchen" varies a lot country by country.

I definitely wouldn't be putting any heating appliances directly next to the fridge! It feels wrong, i've never seen it done in any house or apartment, or in my interior design degree. Also having hot things next to the fridge will make the motor have to work harder, which is bad for the fridge, so you did the right thing.
