Honestly, most of these openings in anime are very, very metaphorical. So, when you see someone sinking in water, it shows an dark emotional state for example, and when someone is above the water and the other is under it, it states for the one staying in the light, being positive, while the other is in the dark, depressed or similar. Similar to when they fall from the sky head first, it is a sign for loosing controle, falling dangerously down emotionally, but when he turns around and baiscally heads down on purpose, it is positive, maybe agressive, but certainly shows determination. So, basically all of that is purly methaphorical, only the frogs, the frogs are real and will kick your ass ...

it"s good reaction overall but you're going way too far on those guess, sometimes the visuals are purely metaphorical, meaning that what you see in the opening doesn't happen in the actual show, but gives you a general idea of the situation going on at this moment of the story, so you shouldn't take everything exactly as what it looks like but instead try to catch a hidden message out of it, and it goes that way for most the great animes such as this one.

There is no parallel universe nor is there any exorcism going on. In short without spoiling anything: The former best friend, Sasuke, of the main character, Naruto, decides to go on his own path in order to achieve his personal goal. The eyes represent the special abilities of the characters and they change when they reach new forms. I won‘t say more, you should definitely watch the show, it‘s brilliant and it really got me into anime. Especially the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke is psychologically one of the most complex and interesting dynamics I have seen in fiction.

I'm so shocked that you mention about Inuyasha😆 well... assuming that you watched and loved that anime, Naruto (especially Shippuden) has far more complex and detailed storytelling and you're gonna LOVE IT! But since it's a long-running show from the early 2000s so the pacing isn't in your favor probably. Nevertheless, all the slow-paced storytelling in Naruto and few first episodes in Shippuden are all gonna paid off in mid-last episodes of Shippuden! Highly recommended💕
