you can have your opinions on tips or whatever as a dasher. that's fine, both as a dasher and as a customer i care about tips, but i care about tips more as a customer. As a dasher the cold hard truth is that i genuinely do not care about the tip. I care about the $/mi. If you order a cheeseburger from a mcdonalds that's 9mi away, you probably spent close to 10$ on that order after fees, what's the common tip? 20%. so a 2$ tip. if i saw a delivery on my screen that's 12$ for 9mi, i would never take it. next guy orders from half a mile away, no tip. huge order so my earnings come out to about 6$. Ill take that in a heartbeat. this is why it's so difficult to communicate this easily between dasher and customer the actual importance of the tip. A customer can get very mixed messages as their order has a huge tip relative to how much they spent and their order takes forever to get picked up, or a customer can never tip and get their delivery promptly every time. Personally i think this is something that doordash as a company needs to communicate better to their customers, but instead there's this culture war between dashers and customers that can get very tense. again, if you wanna die on the hill that you will never take an order with 0$ tip, go ahead. it's a moral thing i know, but i hope that you folks who have that belief understand you're letting good money go to waste. and customers (if there would be any watching this video), if you cant understand why every time you order your food gets there extremely late? you gotta tip more, i'm sorry but it's just how it is. if it doesnt make sense to tip that much then i wouldnt order from that location. if you're ordering for just yourself and only a small cheap item, dont expect the 20% to be a good enough tip. imo the best thing you can do to calculate how much you should tip is at LEAST 2$ per mile, rounding up. stop basing the tip on the cost of your food, because the dashers could not care less about what they're delivering, only how far away it is and how much it will make them, so that's how you should base your tipping around.

I do accept stacked orders but what I've found out is the majority of the time, one has a good tip and the other one is crap or no tip. I will calculate the peak pay with the dash pay and if theres no tip I wont do it. I hate people that don't tip so I won't deliver. I know I lose some money that way but if I'm rendering my services and they don't have the common courtesy to tip, they can wait for someone else. Thanks for the great videos Bentley👍👍

Blame the company not the no tip customer . For three dollar order I wouldn't roller skate out of a Sonics to deliver a hamburge to a customer on the curb . What is Door dash thinking allowing a customer to place a order $2.75 . Minumn should be no less than $10 even if it just 2 blocks awsy

Everything you said makes sense to me. My opinion is some people overthink some of the orders. This age of inflation requires compromise. We already know most corporations are for self, but when DoorDash adds peak pay or raises the base pay to get no tip orders delivered, I look at it as a positive for drivers. It’s a compromise of sorts. Like ok, we need these orders delivered so we will add a couple dollas for y’all. THE only reason I understand why some drivers refuse stacked no tip orders is because sometimes those types of customers are just trouble. From the couple months of experience I have, no tip customers always have an angle. They demand so much for a little bit of money. They’re the types that will get you a contract violation. The types that lie and say they didn’t receive their food, just low count individuals with game. Outside of that, I personally do not really care how the pay is distributed, as long as the offer makes sense to me I will take it. The bottom line is to get paid.

I'm in the South Bay Area, California, just south of San Jose... In 2019 I used to dash the town I live in and make $1000 a week easily getting orders at all times of the day. I used to have a nice little spot in South San Jose I would drive to on weekends as well. Now they're both dead, completely. What used to be a full 3 bars busy heatmap from ~6-9PM is now almost completely gray, I can't even clock in, and even when it's 1-2 bars I get ZERO orders in these same areas I've been making a living off of for years. I literally am not even making back the $160/month car insurance I pay to be able to DoorDash. This all started after the follow-up update to the experimental Top Dasher update. For the first few weeks I got over 70% and was enjoying Top Dasher - it actually was giving me more orders - then at the end of the month I fell just under 70% and lost Top Dasher; I've gotten ONE order since then after 20+ hours of dashing during peak hours. I can no longer rely on DoorDash as a stable source of income or even a source of income, period. Just wanted to share my story as a word of warning to anyone still dashing, you will want to have alternative income methods.

Here’s the possible issue with that 8/4 stacked order: the dollar per mile is there but the dollar per time might be an issue depending on drop off locations and other factors. I’m sure everyone that’s tried dashing for any amount of time in an urban area is EXTREMELY familiar with the no tipping customer that expects you to deliver it to their apartment door that’s 7 stories up and all the way down at the end of 3 long hallways. Not to mention their building being in an area with no parking. Sure if we’re talking about two quick drop offs at houses where we can complete the stack in 20 mins, then that’s a good offer. But if a bad drop off is going to bump that time up 30 or more minutes, it suddenly turns into a mediocre to even bad order with the more time added. Definitely make sure you fully vet low paying stacked orders like that. They can still be worth it. But you can also screw yourself with them too, which will feel doubly bad knowing you’re doing it for customers that didn’t even bother to tip

I'll take a stacked ordered when it's added on after the original order with extra add on $. Who wants to do 1 restaurant, 2 drops when they can get 1 restaurant 1 drop at the same pay? That's called extra time and effort on your part and should be paid.. .extra
@Sick_Of_You11 ай бұрын
Yep... Even in trucking you get an extra-stop pay (generally, when they actually pay it and don't screw you over) of $15/20 per x-stop if there is more than two stops (the initial pickup and the final dropoff) - e.g. You load something in Dallas, you load something else in Phoenix, you drop off one box in Kingman, and you drop the rest in Vegas... That's 2 extra stops, paying $15/20 EACH ... Granted, it's usually not AT ALL worth the added time wasted doing them, and messing with the idiots working at every location, but it does pay "something".

1) I LOVE stacked orders. I consider that double pay for one round trip. Even when there are two pick-ups, the restaurants are close together. 2) I PREFER to dash during peak pay. (It helps to be a top dasher.) 3) We CAN do this with realistic expectations. Not all markets glean $25/hour. The cherry-pickers forget that there are NOT UNLIMITED orders available. If the 1st is $7 and they send me a second from same restaurant to nearby the customer for $5 I only take it for extra gravy, however if its under $5 nope im not giving them my energy, im not working for a cheap customer and why should customer 1 be now covering for customer 2. Nope not doing it. I want them both at $7 and we should stand up for ourselves as it gives us the only small chance of making a little extra when its at the same restaurant, but lets not forget we may be now waiting an extra 10 mins for 2nd order to be prepared now customer number 1 is unhappy again. To be honest with you id rather just take number 1 and get it done while trying to quickly match a second with those other criminals Uber at same price of $7, screw Doordash they are assholes I had a triple yesterday for $15 I thought it was a double but after accepting it i realized it was a triple all from same restaurant. Well before this diamond garbage, the double would have paid 15 as i did lots of those before, now they are trying to squeeze in a 3rd for same price and often less, nope, so i unassigned all 3 of them. To hell with them.. Oh yeah one more thing, if regular pay for the local job is $7 lets say, and then there is peak pay for +$2 now the job should be $9, decline anything under $9 until peak pay is over. Don't work for free people or we will be in this trap for the rest of your lives, so they can harvest our energy while buying themselves yachts while ones 97 Toyota eco has 3 mismatched tires, wheel bearings falling out, breaks grinding, cracked windshield, broken windows, rusty fenders, blown shocks and a leaking exhaust pipe in 3 places, with soon to expire tags. End of the conversation.

Trucking industry has had the same problem for decades upon decades. You will NEVER get idiots to understand what you are saying. There will ALWAYS be more of them than there are of you (the "thinkers"), and they will ALWAYS take garbage pay for garbage runs, keeping the companies rich and you (the drivers, including the idiot drivers causing it) screwed, with no money, and no appreciation. Drivers like you are easily replaced with a constant flow of new people to screw over, and the companies couldn't give half a crap less whether or not any of them are worth a damn at the job. The company will make it's money either way, and customer service, on time delivery, public safety (dumbass drivers), etc, matters nothing at all to them in any way whatsoever because ALL blame is ALWAYS on the driver.

Doordash has gone downhill bad. Half my orders are to drop off in the next town over. 20 minutes away. I took 3 bc desperate for money but the pay for roughly hour drive was $11. Mind you, I got peak pay. Imagine if it was standard base. The other half of my orders are for McDonald's INSIDE WALMART so I have to park and go stand in line for $2 base pay. A year ago I was making $10-15 every single order and drive was always under 15 minutes. I was easily clearing $25/hr with DD a year ago. Now I make $10/hr on average. Doordash is complete trash.

For those in my area who tell me they are considering starting with DD, I tell them basically how it works - from the 2 weeks top dasher, to having to work to get that first 500 deliveries so they have access to early access scheduling, how top dasher works, etc. And I tell them specifically, "I'm not telling you this to discourage you from signing up. I'm telling you this so if you start dashing, you don't get disappointed when it doesn't work out how you think it will. If you want to do it, great. Have fun with it. But remember how it works when you first start, so you don't get disappointed to the point of giving up in just a few weeks. I will almost always accept stacked orders, as long as it’s at least $1 a mile, but usually, the one paying the most will get my attention and delivery first. I message both customers and inform them their order is part of a double pick up, and that I hope to be on my way shortly. And I almost always try to get a food picture with the DD bag in it, so they can’t say it was cold or not delivered in a bag.

Hey Bentley you need to do a video about Insurance. Everyone thinks they are covered but the truth is your probably not. I’m sorry Bradley but at times I feel you’re getting a kickback from DD.. Getting ‘peak pay’ ($1 or whatever) does not excuse a customer from tipping. Also you are not considering the extra wait time at stores/restaurants when it comes to stacked orders… to say it’s ok to take a zero tipped stacked order and end up waiting 5-10 minutes is money lost.

When I first started dashing. This crazy experience happened to me. My husband and I always dash together, thankfully. But we were only doing it together at this point until I got comfortable with the app. We were going for top dasher because we’re new and wanted to see if it was any different. So we just took every order to get my numbers up. We got one bad one. Not too bad. $3.25 for 3 miles or something. It was being picked up from a restaurant in one of those food court type buildings. We went. I get out of the car with my red bag and get it. When walking out of the building I was met by some random guy. He was a dasher. He starts asking me which restaurant I picked up from, how much the order was (which I didn’t tell him), and then started belittling me for accepting it. Saying he knows it was the $3 order he just declined and it’s people like me that make his job suck. No dude, your attitude makes you suck at your job. He went off on me. Saying my husband is waiting, made him turn on his heels and high tail it outta there. Because I pointed my husband out in the truck. I’d be scared too if I was that guy. I got back in the truck and my husband asked what that was about. He hasn’t let me go alone since. Thanks creepy stalker dasher, my time to dash is limited by my husbands schedule now. All this happened so fast, my husband didn’t have time to get outta the car. By the time he realized this guy was insane and the crazy guy ran away. He ran off. Makes me wonder if I was man, if he would’ve approached me at all. That says a lot about his character. I wish people could be nice too. But the world is filled with both good and bad people. Watch your backs out there, stay safe, and always be prepared.

one 2 orders from the same restaurant for 4miles for $8 would be a time of day and how i am doing but most of the time yes. Peak Pay Yes ecspecially when the peak pay is over $2 and then I will look to even shorten the mileage range as I am trying to get as many high profit orders as possible. I would not do the $8 for 4miles at all if its a backwards stack with 2 restaurants/merchants to one customer. $4 an order is not a high profit situation the only reason it works with the 2 customers from the same restaurant is the possibility of getting additional tips but lately the amounts havent been going up so during peak earning times this is an easy decline of a bad order.

Thank you for bringing up the fact that people discourage each other from trying new things and improve their life. I'm relatively young and live in a primarily working class city and often overhear a mexican guy in the corner or a group of joes looking at me say I'm "pendejo" or stupid and this discourages me and drains my energy. It's mostly when I'm doing labor based things like landscaping or mechanics. I've realized that most people who put you down or insult you, are usually in a worst place than you emotionally or financially. A lot of them say that to deal with the fact that they are broke and not in a good situation. I guess I'm the idiot for listening to a guy in the corner who drinks beer and sits around all day.

Personally, ill stick with DD, because it's still paying me just enough to make it worth not going for a normal job... But it's definitely cutting it close. Ive noticed, not just all the changes they made in terms of Top Dasher, and large order priority, but also, that peak pay happens far less frequently, and during really odd times. Like, in my area, peak pay usually happens around 11pm to 2:30am, and not during actual peak hours. It's led to a big drop off in the amount of times I make 60+ dollars per dash, but, like I said, Ill stick with DD. As long as I'm able to make at least 42 dollars per 3 hours most of the time, and im able to hit somewhere over 50 most of the time, then at least in my area, and with my needs, it's fine. But im definitely going to look at switching to a bike dasher, to cut down on fuel costs, and just drive to the area that typically has the best paying orders, and biking there.

Stacked orders for me usually go fairly well. I don’t usually get super lowball pay from them (I can only remember one 2x2=$4 stacked order from the past week). I find that typically theyre worth my while, though occasionally I have to deliver one before I pick up the next one (eg if one of the orders is ice cream I’ll deliver it ASAP-if it’s the first order-or else I’ll deliver the first order and then pick up the ice cream if the ice cream is second order, because I’m dashing by bike and I know that the ice cream will have more longevity in the freezer at the ice cream shop than it will have in my possession in the Midwestern summer heat)

Have you ever thought about getting your CDL and doing truck driving? Why not get more return on your time and efforts same line of work.

Recently was deactivated from DoorDash. Love doing this stuff as side gig. Deactivated for reporting "stores being closed when they were in fact open". Late night hot spot favorite locations in my area are McDonalds and Taco Bell. The Taco Bell stops taking in deliveries around 1. Often will get a order from there around that time. Show up and if lucky they have it ready. If not i have to report store closed after told by employee they are and not taking in any more orders. Majority of time they will have a delivery or two waiting for a driver at same time. That driver shows up after me and gets there delivery which ive seen happen at both stores when i had to report closed on mine and it looks like a false claim on my part. McDonalds only difference they stop taking in orders around 3am and start back up around 4. Every other circumstance identical. Would love to get back on DoorDash as ive submitted all the info and have a escalated case apparantly but it's been 15 days since put in 2nd appeal within 4 days of first after talked to someone there. Uber Eats ive found to be much better in my market. I go for around $500 a week and can hit that with alot less deliveries. Majority are shop and pay or ones with restaurants a little further but alot better $.

With the new pay rates we can now kill the no tip no trip in my area, where the rate changes for the last 3 weeks I've been doing hourly and I've been making consistently where I want to be minimum and so, give the new hourly rate a try and make a next video

I check the orders to make sure they fit MY algorithm. 1.5- 2 per mile and to see if there is a tip. If they are going to the same address. I will likely look at it as one order. If not and the no tip is a street or two over then it's unassigned. I turn a minimum 200 orders a week and will use the app to within my rights. I will not be tricked into taking a order where the customer spits in my face by backing out a tip. #andthatswhereitwillstay

Hey does anyone know how to see the address of the person before a dash is took ? I ask is because I usually would estimate the distance before I take the dash order
