to the people that think everyone is complaining :/ when we say “affordable” we aren’t talking about the quality of the pieces, we are talking about how both ash and alisha expressed how “affordable” everything was. they shouldn’t have used that word being that their definition of affordable is completely different than the average working person’s definition. of course even if i can’t afford anything off of the site, i will still support them and i am soo happy for them!

I didn’t like that Alisha threw the word “inclusivity” around when she only had majority white model women and 1 or 2 black model women wearing their branded clothes. How can a clothing brand say they are inclusive when they only feature majority white women? There wasn’t a Latino nor an Asian women representing the clothing brand. In addition, when they were gifting PR in this video, the rest were white women and 2 black women. Furthermore, when it was 12pm PST, Ashley kept saying “we got 5 orders, 10 orders!” It all seemed like they were there for the money, as the meaning behind the brand is nothing special compared to other sustainable and luxury brands. Especially since they are very rich, white privileged, and are biased towards a specifically racial and class audience. It’s very disappointing how they both don’t take into consideration of what affordability means for others who aren’t influencers and are people of color.

EDIT : I want to note I understand how everything is made in the USA and they didn’t cut corners to have fair labor wages and workers etc. It just feels very misleading with the prices and the target audience they have. It would have helped to define what they mean by affordable because all we got it is “there’s this very famous designer who chose the same material and is charging it for $200”. @@fangirldotse6019 thank you! That’s how I feel too. It’s just, I know they can afford it because of all their hauls and like - we’re not well off like them. I think it’s kind of contradicting that in the comments you’re justifying your prices because PA isn’t “Forever 21 sweatshops.” Don’t you shop Nike/buy into an abundance of sweatshop luxury stores? Sustainability isn’t just a marketing key word, it’s an ideology that should be used beyond just a business. As the CEO, shouldn’t you also promote this lifestyle? Also sustainability and ethically sourced doesn’t mean it has to be expensive. Authenticity is important and so is INTERSECTIONAL inclusivity (this includes class).

I have been subscribed for years and honestly Based on the meaning of Affordable it definitely seems as if I am no longer the target audience. The “explanation” for the prices of the shirt by using what about-ism totally rubbed me the wrong way. Also wouldn’t you traditionally do a haul prior to a launch so that people can see what they want to buy. Can’t really do that if you do a haul on items that are sold out for the most part. Then it kind of comes off as “ Look what you didn’t get.” Please don’t take this a hate or anything, it’s just how I felt after watching the video and reading some comments. I feel this definitely should be addressed as those others in the comments trying to defend you are flat-out calling your SUBSCRIBERS poor for expressing their thoughts on the cost which is rude as hell. I think the next steps is educating your audience about sustainability, especially if your brand is about using quality materials and ethical practices to all the pieces. I’m shocked that some people think $55 is expensive for a tee. Most sustainable brands that I shop from are typically $95 for a white tee. There’s a reason for the big price tag. Have people ever thought about where their clothes come from? How it was made? What materials were used? How much it costs to pay the garment workers? Cheap quality clothes for inexpensive prices causes global warming, cheap labor on women and young children, harm to the environment, uses too much of our water system, non-recyclable clothes that keep piling up and destroying the planet, and so much more. It won’t just affect the people who are working in garment factories but also the planet and the people on this earth. However, I do agree that you and Ashley did advertise the brand not as described correctly. You didn’t particularly mention that this is a sustainable brand (and if it is, it’s important to educate yourself and the audience) and why the costs are the way it is. People are complaining about how you noted this brand to be “affordable” but what is affordable mean to you? People may assume that you two are spoiled and are rich so that’s why you two don’t understand what affordability means. Y’all should clarify and explain in detail instead of saying “this is good quality” like that’s such a generic and excuse-like answer. You cannot just say “when you touch the clothes, you’ll get that it’s worth the price tag.” Because you say that in all the fast-fashion branded hauls you’ve done in the past. People will assume that this is a fast-fashion brand just like Zara and etc. but jacked up pricing. There needs be to more transparency in the brand.

To alisha and losh, congratulations on your launch and the creation of your apparel. I can only imagine the time and effort you put into your work. I love the aesthetic as it really caters to unique style. It’s feminine and yet comfortable while still embracing a strong athletic feel to it. I see a lot of comments about prices and I don’t think many people understand the amount of time and money it cost to create something like this. Honestly, idk about this project. You both essentially made a brand with probably the simplest materials/design. And said all the right things “sexy as is” and included models of different races and sizes. These are all pretty big movements rn and you tried to be a part of it to emotionally connect people to it. And honestly your clothing prices are comparable to lululemon. If I’m going to spend money I’d probs spend it there. Idk it all just feels like a cash grab. You are just trying to get people emotionally invested. And to add fuel to the fire you repetitively state that you funded it yourself to further drag us in.

@@gabrielcisneros8158 a lot of fast-fashion brands have a conscious line and/or state in their about page that it’s a “sustainable and ethically sourced” but that doesn’t prove anything. Sustainable brands need to be transparent and show authentic proof of the materials they use, how they manufacture their products, where they are making the products, and so much more. If brands are afraid or ignore being transparent, they are def being sus and don’t want to expose their work ethics to sacrifice their business. They want people to shop their stuff and lie to our faces by acting “ethical and sustainable”.

alisha, I'd like to take these points in the following thread as *constructive criticism* : i think your company branding is really good. but i don't think you've considered the audience you are promoting. if you want to promote your brand on KZbin, it's mostly teens and young adults.. and I don't see point of promoting your brand here if the prices are so costly. here are some things you can consider if we are your target audience: 1) prices are high, everyone agrees with it. what sucks is that there is *only ONE* model of a simple white tee which you are selling for $50. not all women feel sexy in just one model of clothing. i honestly think, the tee lenght is uncomfortable ( personal opinion) 2) i don't understand if you *vision* is for *women to feel sexy with whatever they wear or they should feel sexy wearing your brand clothes* (feeling like a community wearing it). if 2nd one is your goal, then what differentiates your merch from this brand? 3) i think your brand is still in ideating process and it's completely fine. if you want people to really feel a sense on one-ness, you should work on *execution of your ideas to the audience must be definite*. what i mean to say is, you want your clothing line for all sizes of women? or find sexiness in simple clothing? or feel sexiness in wearing a $50 simple tee? 4) if you want to attract more audience, who are ready to invest huge sum of money on your clothing line, you should work on *why* they should come to your brand. i suggest you to please give more options to your simple tees cuz I don't wanna waste even 10mins of my time if you're giving me 5 options *Only* to choose from. lastly, guys i want you guys to comment suggestions in this thread! let's help A&A out❤️😊

I love this comment! I love all their branding and everything they’re doing but what I don’t get is what differentiates this brand from others? They are acting like they’re the only ones with extended sizes and as a plus size girl I’ve found quality pieces for less money that still come in my size. I guess I just want to know why this brand and why people should put their money towards it? Once they focus on the why I think it will be more successful. Everyone is doing basics, everyone is doing bigger sizes.

I think that if they really went into depth about how sustainable and ethically made the clothes are, I could see the prices as much more reasonable given the circumstances - you can't really have sustainable, ethically made and insanely nice quality clothes for a cheap price. I get that's what she was trying to do but she hasn't really touched on anything sustainability wise and I think that's why we are all upset because just nice quality doesn't justify the high prices. Plus, they are saying its affordable in multiple advertising paragraphs and that's very very misleading as its not and the pieces are literally a basics line - I love a good quality basics line but not for that price

Reading a lot of the comments re affordability - there's a minimum level of pricing that one can have while keeping the materials and production sustainable. Consumers can't expect all companies to be able to cut prices - it might set the company's income below what is being spent to produce. I'm sure as the company grows they will have more ability to decrease prices (some costs will be variable to cost to product - but some are fixed and won't change - thus cost to produce per item goes down) , but in the meantime, this is pretty standard for these type of items!
