Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Moped has pedals but still powered by an engine. Scooter has a CVT style transmission where you do not shift and a comfortable seated riding position (mostly designed for in town use). Motorcycle has gears, can acheive higher speeds (because of gears) and are more designed for in town and freeway use. Scooter and motorcycle naming convention is not from engine size because both can have a 200cc engine. But rather the transmission type, riding position, and road use.
@ghomerhust
@ghomerhust 6 жыл бұрын
our local department of transportation defines a "moped" as a "purpose built power assisted bicycle," which is why they dont require a title, license plates, or insurance on them. but they are also legally limited to 50cc and about 35mph, tho modding them to more displacement (usually around 70cc) and speed (upwards of 45-50mph with 2-speed transmissions) is very common
@Big_Serb
@Big_Serb 6 жыл бұрын
Josh Hust man... when i was young we built 70cc scooters that could reach around 145kph (100kph = 60mph , you do the math). Good times....
@ifrit35
@ifrit35 6 жыл бұрын
Usually the difference between a moped and a scooter is the way your feet are resting. If it has a platform then it's a scooter, if it has footpegs then it's either a moped or a motorcycle. No matter how the transmission works or the engine.

Many years ago I bought a replacement engine for my 76 Celica, this was in the days before the internet so it was done on the phone and sight unseen. Did most of the install myself when I was 18, only needed a mechanic to do the tuning and final checks. Fantastic putting a twin-cam in to the old car and so easy being a twin-carby so no EFI or complex electronics.

Grizzly Garage. I've been flying to Los Angeles (from Sydney) since the late 70's, if you could see the difference in your air quality since then, you wouldn't complain. The air was so thick and grey, you could chew it!

John O when I lived in Colorado even with all the emission shit if you were in the right spot you could see the smog for miles. I moved to Arkansas and it's emission free and it seems to be a cleaner state
@johno9507
@johno9507 6 жыл бұрын
Brandon Martinez. There is certainly still smog, but the difference in the last 40 years is just incredible! About a hour or so before landing in LA you would start to smell it, then descending into LA you'd drop into this thick blanket of smog that you couldn't see through before breaking out the bottom. These days it's a 1000 times better! It was in the 90's that it really started to improve.

Sorry for coming in twice as soon as you drive this thing around a couple times replace the engine oil and the transmission oil. You can get heavier or lighter roller weights to make it take off quicker or have higher speed. You can also change the final drive gear. Once you put a couple hundred miles on it please check the valve clearance they are adjustable and easy to do. Look up the green translucent Fuel and Air Lines and replace all of the fuel and vacuum lines as that cheap black rubber crap dissolves and the little pieces clog up the carburetor. Put a larger fuel filter on it also. The Jets in those carburetors are really small. Try to use non ethanol fuel recall it recreational gas in the states. The problem is moisture easily gets into that tank and the ethanol sucks it up creating a little tiny balls of plastic that clogged up the Jets very easily in the carburetor. They also make larger Bore kits that engine is called a GY6 they make everything from a 50 to a 63 to a 80, 100, 120, 150, 180cc

Ive always Checked it when its cold so everything is settled in the pan so you can actually tell accurately the oil level.

mattybeatzkidd you’re actually supposed to check after running the engine for 5 minutes to allow the oil to drain down into the pan. I’ve read that it multiple different manuals when changing filters and finding drain plugs

If you brought the Honda Beat back to Aus too you should stick a Hyabusa bike engine in it, that would be a pretty cool engine swap.

you guys know that scotty kilmer has like 2.5 million subs. I watch him everyday, He's always uploading vids and he's so damn funny too. He's my 2nd favorite but Mighty Car Mods will always be number 1. Keep up the good work and vids, Hey Martin, pass me the wizzer. lol. I used to keep track of how many times moog would say martys name in each video, most times at least 20 but sometimes up to 50. that's just great. Later guys from Flint, Michigan. USA

Remember the British bikes. Those are all right hand drive. Really tricky to ride if you were raised on a US bike. Shifter and rear brake pedal are switched on British bikes. I think newer hand controls were the same but on the older bikes, some even had tank mounted lever hand clutches and/or hand shifters. even starting an old one was complex
