Dr. I opened my Dell Inspiron 24” Model 3455 and there’s two memory slots. One under the top one. Double check yours to see if there’s an additional slot below. Thanks for the video to open. Simple once you know. Bob

I'ts a 3452 in the video, not a 3455. It only has 1 slot.

It has *two* slots. You just need to release the clip hinges on each side of that ram and it will reveal the 2nd slot under it.

Mine only has one. I took out the original but there was no where to put the 2nd ram underneath

@@crw3gmtsu oh maybe there is a slight variation between models. I upgraded the ram and hd on a neighbor's model and it had 2 memory slots (1 under the other).

@Kevin J. A. Yea I was hoping that mine would be the same but there is a little piece of plastic that sticks out where the 1st one is placed which will not allow room for another one. I also read that for whatever reason mine will not support 16g upgrade, only a 8g which is still better than the 4g i had in. I do plan on replacing the hd today though. I am still new to this but do you know about the soft ware process once the hd is replaced?

@@crw3gmtsu Aww that sucks, but yup 8GB RAM is definitely going to be a big diff from 4GB. So when I replace the HD, I prefer doing a fresh install of windows, so make a windows boot USB before you start. And back up all your important files from the old HD onto an external drive. Once all that is done, go ahead and open her up and replace the HD. And when you boot it up after, have your windows boot USB plugged in and enter the BIOS setup so you can install Windows. Also I recommend upgrading your HD to a SSD because it makes a world of a difference. And don't forget to keep your old HD, because you can buy a HDD enclosure off Amazon for like around $15 to then use it as an external HD. Just plug it in and format the old HD (after going thru it again to make sure you saved all the files off your old HD), format it with the windows disk management tool.

This model does come with two slots. I just opened mine and installed another 8GB, all he needed to do is to remove the Ram and access the second slot right behind it :)

So this video is kind of old but it's the only one I could find on this 24 series come I have the 24 3455 and I'm experiencing the same problem but they say there's another slot underneath however I can't even get to it so can you please do a video or respond back on how I can access the other slot how do you get the ram card out

I checked the manual and it says Two slots, as others have stated it is under the first one. I saw another video that showed it as well. supports 2,4, and 8 gigs max

The tell-tale sign this is a crap computer and should've been thrown in the trash immediately after opening it up, is the apparent lack of a CPU fan - passive cooling with a strip of aluminum and a thermal pad!? What was it running on - an intel Atom? AMD-E2? It's basically a netbook attached to a 24" screen. I'm surprised to even see an actual hard drive installed instead of an eMMc storage chip. You definitely need to do your research when buying a computer, because this PC was obsolete before it even shipped.

I thought it was only one slot too, but I found a second one layered/staggered underneath the one that is installed right now... I have the 3459 though. I opened the little arms on the top slot to flip it up and access the lower slot.

@@Pernoctate the little arm and notch visible @ 3:20 looks like it should definitely pop up (whether there is an additional slot underneath, not sure, but it definitely opens). I maxed out that 3459 (bought around 2015/16) and replaced the HD around 2018, but for something I spent

These machines really were crap. I just put in an SSD on my mother-in-law's DELL INSPIRON 3455 today (yes, in the year 2023). It definitely makes it at least useable. Fast enough for an 80-year-old anyway. It does have 2 RAM slots but only 1 8GB stick is installed and so has only single channel memory; I will get another 8GB stick and see if dual channel memory will give it a bit more pep. It made her day at least!

i had the same thing going on for a client. i got the machine, opened it then had to order a 8GB stick....it sucks if you have the 4GB all ready to, Dell really cut the corners with this motherboard design

This is a nice basic system for internet browsing, MS Office, Google Docs tasks. I think it would be a perfectly capable school computer. Note that it's not something to be carrying around, it's very big and heavy.

Ummm so guessing my comment got deleted??? Lol but yeah anyway had one of these given to me for free and just took it apart and put in an old SSD to upgrade the HDD , and got another stick of the same RAM that was installed since there's only one stick to begin with, I actually was able to get the back off super easily without a spudger/screwdriver, just used my fingers and was able to get the back cover off just fine. Even the day after I clipped my nails 🤣🤣

I opened it up to confirm and you were correct that there is only one 4GB RAM card and single slot in the aoi 24 3452. It says it can hold 8gb but Dell does not show a factory 8gb card on parts list. Can you confirm that a single 8gb stick worked?
