install the CPU-z program on the computer and on the first tab look at the socket model, and on the tab "Mainboard" the name of the motherboard. Does your computer have an AMD or Nvidia graphics card?

Great video - thank you! So Windows 11 upgrade failed due to processor in my Inspiron not being compatible - I was quite surprised. The processor is a Core i7-6700HQ and the specs are more that what Windows 11 minimum requirement is. So the question is - Can I upgrade the processor on this laptop - or is it soldered in?

You can install 2 stick 8GB+8GB RAM, 2Rx8 1.35v so-dimm DDR3L-1600, any manufacturer. What processor is in the laptop? Does the laptop have a Radeon graphics card or just HD Graphics?

@vladimirazirov1815 DDR3L and DDR3 are very different ram sticks. Mine has HD graphics. I have ram DDR3 ram sticks only.

@@kergun11 You can use memory stick DDR3-1333 1.5v 2Rx8 8gb+8gb. It's just that DDR3L (1.35v, 2Rx8) is more universal, so I bought these. The processor for upgrade is suitable i5-2540m, i7-2630qm. I use thermal paste GD007, I change the thermal paste and clean the radiator from dust every 2.5 years.

@@kergun11 for a laptop to use 16GB of RAM (8+8), it must be Windows 10 x64 or Windows 7 x64, which according to the specification supports 16GB of RAM. 8GB memory sticks must be of the 2Rx8 type, 4GB memory sticks can be of any type (2Rx8 or 1Rx8).

@@HazCS 1) the thermal paste has dried. 2) the radiator is clogged with dust. 3) disassemble and lubricate the fan bearing with machine oil (2-3 drops).

@@HazCS very rarely there is such a malfunction that the tube of the Cooling System is faulty - it loses its properties to conduct heat. Then you need to buy a new Cooling System (it is possible without a fan). This is done if the first 3 points did not help reduce the heating )

3D CAD software has a high requirement on the GPU. While the N4050 can run those programs, you won't be able to manipulate large assembly files. Laptops with Quadro or Radeon Pro should be better, like the ThinkPad P1.

For example, GD900 / GD007. Wipe off the old thermal grease with wet wipes and apply a new thermal grease with a thin layer throughout the processor chip (0.1-0.2mm). Blow out the radiator from dust and disassemble the fan and lubricate the bearing with engine oil (2-3 drops)

I saw a video where the i7-2630qm processor was installed in this laptop, but the discrete AMD Radeon card and the turbo boost in the processor were turned off in the BIOS, because the cooling is weak in the laptop. We got 2GHz, 4 cores, 8 threads. Together with SSD and 8GB of RAM, normal performance turned out :)
