No it’s not, they’re programmed from the factory to only use the model of screen they originally came with, believe me I’ve tried

@@narianu0 i reccomend changing the whole display assembly (screen, back cover, hinges), that way is pretty easy. i did my swap that way. you need to change the metal plate from the ports on the back side of the laptop below the screen to because the touchscreen version uses a wider one, the normal one will not fit
@isaiahhollingworth23965 жыл бұрын
You can as long as you already have a 1080p screen installed from the factory, it’s the same connector for the touch and non-touch assemblies, but the touch screen is one unit(screen and overlay) and can’t be bought individually

Great Video. I have a question for you. I have the same laptop and i want to replace my standard 1366 x 768 screen with 1920 x 1080 Glossy screen. Do you know if it will work? Thank you
@narianu010 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can install a 1920 x 1080 glossy screen in place of the 1366 x 768 screen. In fact, that is what I'm doing in the video. I realized the DPI scaling that occurs at 1920 x 1080 makes things pretty ugly, especially on a multi-monitor setup, so I ended up finding a 1600x900 screen that is compatible. The key is the find a screen that uses 30-pin EDP, and you should be all set.
@awaisbhatti10010 жыл бұрын
narianu0 thanks for your reply. I will be using windows 7 so scaling won't be an issue I guess. Thanks for the video.
@narianu010 жыл бұрын
It still might be a problem be because if you disable scaling, it's really hard to read things on a 14" 1920x1080 screen, so you'll probably scale everything up at least 25%. If you have an external monitor attached, the DPI is much lower, so everything looks way too big. Good luck!

I've got a dell latitude e7250, w/ a 1366x768 panel, have you got any knowledge if this model too is upgradable to a 1920x1080 panel?
@narianu07 жыл бұрын
I don't know for sure, but signs point to it NOT working. I went on LaptopScreen.com and looked up that laptop model # (www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Dell/LATITUDE%207250/) and it appears that the 1366x768 screen uses a 30-pin connector whereas the 1920x1080 screen uses a 40-pin connector.
@robslob39647 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, you are correct, *however*, the one w/ the 40-pin connector, is the touch-enabled variant, so it comes w/ a digitizer, just the panels (w/o digitizer) on laptopscreen.com has the edp 30-pin connector. Oh well, I already ordered an affordable panel from china so we'll see, I could report back here if anybodys interested (i need a 30-pin fhd panel for testing purposes anyways so if it doesnt work its not a complete waste).
@narianu07 жыл бұрын
If the screens of either resolution both have the 30-pin connector, I think you'll be in good shape. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
@robslob39646 жыл бұрын
Alright, TL;DR, it works. Long story, the panel I bought had a 'slightly' wider inverter board, so, in order to fit the panel into the lid I had to dremel the hinges and the lid 'a little bit', and then I had to cut out one of the plastic clip-ons from the bezel. None of this is visible and looks/works like new.

sir, I have the unit with glossy Fullhd and touchscreen panel, and these are my quaestion: 1. If I wanna replace my lcd, do I really need to find exact same specs as current mine, I mean, Could it be a problem if I replace it with 1366x768p (it will degrade my screen quality)? 2. How about the lcd and touch panel, are they in the same unit or individual? I mean, I should look for lcd which come with touch panel 3. How many pins on my current panel, is it possible to analyze it without dissamble first? thanks in advance

When you say scaling looks blurry/ugly in 1920x1080 on the 14 inch screen, what do you mean? Like do you have any picture examples, etc Also is this issue still present in windows 10?
@narianu06 жыл бұрын
Certain apps don't properly scale up and appear blurry when you have a high-resolution display, or in the reverse situation, some apps don't scale at all and appear tiny when you adjust scaling too high. In addition, if you have two monitors with very different pixel densities (for example a 14" 1920x1080 on your laptop and a 23" 1920x1080 external), you might set different scaling levels on each screen. The problem with that is that if you move windows from one monitor to the next, they sometimes become blurry as they scale up or down. My workaround has been to set the same scaling level for both monitors Windows 10. Using 125%, I get reasonably crisp and readable text on the 1920x1080 14" display. I chose to buy an external monitor with relatively similar pixel density and so went with a 23" 2560x1440 monitor which stays pretty readable at 125%. The key is to avoid having a different scaling for each monitor. I don't have any good screenshots, but Google "windows 10 scaling blurry" for some images.
@narianu06 жыл бұрын
Looks like Windows 10 might have better support for blurry windows: support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4091364/windows-10-fix-blurry-apps I haven't tested this out, but it's hopeful.

Hi, the question has been already asked, but maybe you have more news... I have an e7450 with 768 res, can I replace it with a full HD one? Will this void the warranty or will they not notice the difference? And finally... is it better to get a FHD matte or glossy display?
@narianu08 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried replacing the screen on the 7450, but since it's just an incremental upgrade to the E7440, I would imagine it would also work. I haven't looked at the terms and conditions, but I would think it would void the warranty, so do at your own risk. Matte or Glossy is your choice. I like Matte because you don't get a strong reflection in bright light. However, the colors don't look as nice with Matte.
