I'm getting one of these to use for the Engineering program at my college. They actually recommend the 3580, but I like the smaller size of the 3470 and it's a generation of cpu older so a lot cheaper. Does the keyboard get hot during standard internet browsing and light software use. Or just under heavy load? I like that the ram is easily upgradable to 64 gb, too many laptops have soldered ram these days

the keyboard and bottom of the laptop run kooler if one tilts the keyboard up, to allow for natural airflow...

From my experience, the machine only really get hot when under load. And yeah, it was nice to see that I could upgrade the RAM. Good luck with your Engineering Program!

I don't like it when a laptop turns into a heating pad. I bought myself a 3480, but sometimes it also gets overheated. If I had seen your video before purchasing, maybe I wouldn’t have bought my Dell)) 😊

Were you able to edit your videos on this machine comfortably, or did the integrated graphics in particular limit what you could do?

It's been a while since I watched the video. I don't recall saying whether I did or did not edit any videos on it. But what I am comfortable saying, is that from a performance standpoint, I'm sure the machine could do some light video editing (12th Gen i7 with 64GB RAM). I wouldn't simply because of the fan noise and heat, however. I do all of my editing on Macs right now. Next year when more Windows machines switch to ARM, I will giving editing on Windows another try. If you haven't already done so, a sub to the channel would be greatly appreciated!

In terms of performance, I think it would be fine. Just know, that sometimes those fans can REALLY get loud. If you haven't done so, a sub to the channel would be greatly appreciated!

haha. It's a long story. lol As a 14-incher it's ok. I will say I've gotten really used to the 16x10 displays. Something about it feels right.

@@followthecable4379 the 16x9 is better. If you watch media it will be in wide screen format, so both screens will have black bars top and bottom, but the 16x9 will give a bigger picture.

easily the worst laptop i have owned going back to the 90's... what more to say...crazily bad, starting with unlit keyboard, upsell for basic software at 6 months, hotter than hell itself, fat thumbed touchscreen... etc etc..that with the bundled nonsense... i feel this was built by robots, for robots--- the mouse is like plowing snow.... all right, how am i supposed to write my poetry without a proper word program--refuse the upsell-- very dissapointing.. ive owned other dell products and this one simply sucks...save yr money and by a higher quality procuct-- worth about $600 bucks tops...did i say the chintzy plastic is uninspired and cheap? owned over a year and use my iphone almost exclusivley. ..very low grade graffix for the imoje's and lots of ergonomic issues when doing just about anything---not well thought out... truth--- is michael dell still with the company... the list is too long!
