Does this system support gen 4 m.2 Nvme??? . I mean to enquire regarding it's motherboard
@cyberlizardcouk3 ай бұрын
I can't believe this system does not have any natively installed NVMe sockets. Seems like a huge oversight.

Are the front bays natively SAS compatible? As in just slap a SAS drive in there? The storage specifications on Dell's website indicates SAS is only available with an optional controller.
@tekboost Жыл бұрын
The Dell website is correct. SAS drives are only compatible when an optional SAS storage controller is being used such as the LSI 9940-8i. The onboard controller is only compatbile with SATA.

Thanks for posting the informative video. I have a have the four quick swap(?) bays already filled with HDDs, which are pure storage, on a 2x2 zfs mirror. I'm currently booting (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed) off an EVO 850 SSD, in an external enclosure, connected via USB 3.1. I might think a direct sata would be faster than USB 3.1. I see an unused sata data cable in the back of my empty 5:25 inch bay, the other end connected to "ODD1" (far right plug). I assume that's potentially intended for an "Optical Disk Drive 1". But SATA5 and SATA6 receptacles are free, and that can plug into one of those. I wonder if I can connect that SSD (removed from it's enclosure) to that data cable. If so, how would I power that? What specific cable might I connect to what specific plug (if possible/advised with this power supply)? I don't see a free power cable (other than, apparently, the ones ready for extra video cards). Thanks. Ok . . . So my enclosure is USB 3.0. Getting a >=3.1 enclosure (with corresponding rated cable) might enable me to see the up to 6 Gbps SATA3 speeds. But might not be that much better and maybe not really worth it.

There is a power cable for the ODD 5.25 usually tucked in on the bottom of the psu near the heatsink which is used to power a 5.25" to 3.5/2.5 Adapter for additional storage in the 5.25 bay. See Dell link for more info and a video showing the 5.25 adapter being installed: www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000146243/upgrading-storage-in-the-dell-precision-5820-7820-7920-tower-workstations

@@tekboost Thanks for the reply! I clearly see a data cable, but no apparent power cable. I've already looked at some of those videos. One shows a power cable attached to a fan, on the back of the bay. Can you post the link to the specific one you mean?

Hello... I have a Dell Precision 5820 with 3 x 8GB PC4 2666 RAM, 1 x 16GB PC4 2666 RAM and 1 x 32GB PC4 2666 RAM. What would be the correct layout as the PC is now beeping and not booting. All I did was remove the memory for maintenance and I don't remember the layout? Any ideas?
@tekboost Жыл бұрын
Mixing DIMM sizes can be tricky and recommend only two variants. Confirm all memory is the same type such as 2666V-R (ECC registered) or 2666V-E (ECC Unbuffered). Both memory types can be compatible with the T5820 however they will not work together at the same time. If you have a Xeon processor (W--2xxxx) then either memory type can be used. If you have a Core Processor (i5, i7, or i9), ECC Unbuffered is required, and 32GB DIMM are not compatible with this processor. Once compatiblity is confirmed. install memory in order from DIMM1 to DIMM8. Do one at time, reboot, to confirm working before proceeding.

Why do video producers make the music so loud that the narration can't be heard? Why any music at all? We're not here for the music, you know. We're here to hear the information.

Yes. However we can only quote shipping to Canada and the US only. All other locations require shipping arrangements to be made by the buyer.

Why specs pdf and dell web say dual CPU go with 768 GB RAM 4:38
@tekboost Жыл бұрын
Often when the manual is released its correct (12x 32GB = 384GB of Memory) but later when 64GB sticks were released and BIOs updates are released, its now compatible with additonal RAM, 768GB (12x 64GB).

Is it possible to install 48GB (3X 16GB) DDR3-1333 PC3-10600 Memory RAM and two AMD FirePro W7000 4GB GDDR5 GPUs in this tower?
@tekboost3 жыл бұрын
This system is not compatible with DDR3 memory. You will need DDR4 ECC Registered memory such as 17000P-R DDR4-2133 RAM. It is compatible with two AMD Firepro W7000 GPUs as long as the operating system being used has the drivers available such as Windows 10.

I don't think xeons have integrated graphics, the dedicated video card could have hdmi, depends on what you choose
