use with precaution metal liquid (very small quantity + varnish or tape protection for CPU !!!). i have repast my 7540 i9 9980HK and : before hit 100°, thermal throlling. After, 70/80°, maximum boost at 4.9 and sometimes 5ghz and no more turbo fan noise ! Massive improvement of all performance ...

I need to repaste my 7540 (xeon e2276m + quadro rtx 3000) because of crazy thermal throttling but afraid about the liquid metal. I think I'll go with a regular thermal paste.
@STK347617 ай бұрын
@@riazulrahil try but for me it was useless with standard paste. 2 years now, no problem. Only metal liquid for CPU, it's ok for GPU with paste.

I'm looking at doing the same with mine, and I've been wondering--do you remember ever taking a cpu/gpu temperature reading w/an app before re-pasting?

Is there anyone knows which heat sink material Dell used for mobile workstation 7530 and 7540. I am thinking of a liquid metal application.

Nice. I have the same machine. I had terrible thermal throttling (brining frame rates to < 5) with most 3D games when I first purchased it in 2018. I blame the design. I could probably try repasting as well like you did. Recently I picked up a IETS GT500 Powerful Turbo-Fan (5000 RPM) RGB Laptop Cooling Pad and it mostly resolved the heating issues bringing it out of thermal throttle. This was the only external fan that worked. Other cooling pads sucked. I am now occasionally getting startup issues with the internal fans. I picked up two new ones to replace them. Do you think it is necessary to remove the entire cooling assembly to change them (in your video) or is possible to do it without removal?
@Mastergeko47 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment! To remove the fans on the heatsink, you'll most likely have to remove the entire heatsink assembly like I did. Luckily, Dell still has a service guide for almost all of their products to help guide you. This can be found here: www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/precision-17-7730-laptop/precision_7730_sm/removing-the-heat-sink-assembly?guid=guid-63319545-9ce8-4d0b-bec2-879047c660a5&lang=en-us

@@Mastergeko4 Update. For the sake of ease I just used the stock thermal paste that was on the new heatsink assembly because I was afraid of getting paste everywhere. Operating temperatures range from 50-100+ C (130-200+F) regularly with the stock paste. To my not liking I am seeing 100C more often than I would prefer and I am now thinking about redoing it with the MX-4 compound. Did you ever temp check your machine? Do you still use it?
