Nice video. I have same PC T5500 adn same CPU's (dual X5670) with RISER CARD an 9x8GB (72GB hexa channel) DDR3 ECC registered Samsung memory. This is old but still very powerful PC. Stronger than some new PC's.

Underrated for sure, especially as a prebuilt PC

I had a Memory Failure in Riser DIMM 1. Swapped the memory out in that slot. Same message still appears, but I can F! and use my PC until it freezes or restarts. Then I have to restart manually. Ordered a new RISER for 55 bucks, crossing fingers. Got a Dell refurb instead of new. Figured the refurb would have kinks worked out.

i disagree with the glove and spread the thermal paste around with finger what going to keep it from making air holes on the cpu and making futher run on the motherboard

Wonder if the 2nd CPU riser board from the 7500 would fit? Different Dell part code, but they look identilcal.

@@DVTutorials They're getting cheaper by the day, you can get a 2 for under 80 bucks. I should eventually just put in a pair of x5690's and call it day. But yeah, you can "roll coal" with this hog!! lol

Are the Dell T7500 and T5500 CPUs interchangeable as long as they both have the latest BIOS? thanks
@DVTutorials5 жыл бұрын
THe 5600 series Xeon CPUs will work in both systems. The T5500 CPU socket is the LGA1366
@TheLionAndTheLamb7774 жыл бұрын
Dell T7500's will sometimes show a motherboard DIMM slot error if you upgrade the processors without upgrading the BIOS to the lastest revision first. I've seen this happen when upgrading to a pair of X5680 processors. Once the BIOS was updated the error was resolved.

does anybody know if the cpu in the riser will still work without installed ram in the riser board? can it just run off the motherboard ram?
@DVTutorials5 жыл бұрын
No, the precision computers have very specific memory population rules. It should be possible to populate the memory modules on the riser board and install the 2 cpus and have this work. Check out part 3 of my series kzbin.info/www/bejne/pX3LnZl4aZuap8k for more information.

@random bastard I am not sure about using a 5680 with a 5650. I just got mine to match. I got them from itserverexchange on eBay. I picked up a GeForce GTX 1650 at Micro Center really cheap (less than $100) and I have 12GB RAM. I am not a heavy gamer but with this setup I can play all the games at good settings I care to play. I know the 1650 isn't the best graphics card but it was cheap and works for me! I added an SSD to boot from along with a 1TB spinning drive I had for storage. All together I have less than $300 in this thing and it is way better than the pre-built I bought a few years ago (better than it ever was that is)
