Dell Rugged Desk Dock Unboxing and Overview

I unbox this great rugged desk dock from dell that I purchased for a great price on ebay. I take a look at it's construction and basic functions. This dock will fit Dell models 7204 7404 7214 7414 5404.

Well this excellent video review convinced me to buy one of these desk docks, for my model 7214 Rugged Extreme. I wanted to mention that my desk dock also did not include the power cord, and it was a new, unopened box, still factory sealed. One of the stores on eBay selling these units mentioned that it didn't come with a power cord, and suggested that you use your power cord from the laptop for it. That is what I did, but it would be nice if Dell included one with the desk dock. Perhaps it's because of the different types of power outlets used worldwide, idk. As you said, they're easy enough to find online. The desk dock certainly does save a lot of wear and tear on the port gaskets of the laptop, and the various ports themselves, and as you pointed out, the charging port. I have a separate monitor, keyboard and mouse, ethernet and a usb 3 splitter all connected to the dock. It makes for a great desktop setup, but so simple to remove the laptop for when you want portability. Thanks for opening my eyes to a great accessory for these laptops.

Retro G Hey, I'm happy to help! I just feel like so many people overlook the utility of a dock because it's one of those things you don't truly appreciate the utility of until you actually have one to use and then suddenly something as simple as manually plugging in your computer seems so convoluted. Not to mention if you have a whole desk setup with monitors, speakers, etc Just drop it in the dock and get to work. Or pop it out and go. So simple, clean and quick 👌🏼

I also bought this dock but I have a question, for the ports to work the dock has to be connected, at the same time that the battery receives charge, but if the battery is used charging continuously, does it not damage its useful life?

which model dock is that? i have the K13A or K13A002 type, there's a few port differences you have a single hdmi and the k13a has 2 display port
