A cheap Klipsch, Altech or JBL would do better than a built-in speaker.

You can't build even halfway decent speakers into a slim LCD monitor that doesn't have any bezel space to speak of. You could put laptop style speakers on the rear panel with vents on that panel, or on the edges, but it'd sound so terrible that it'd be as embarrassing as having cheap plastic spinner-hubcaps on a Lamborghini. Better to use good quality external speakers or headphones.

They’re not competing, though. This monitor is for extremely high-end consumers, or for content creators. The XDR is for actual professionals, for people who make their living working in an edit bay or a color house, doing work on Hollywood productions. It’s not like “this one is 8k, and that is only 6k, and it doesn’t include a stand”. It’s about the 1000 nits of sustained brightness, the full DCI-P3 color coverage, the dynamic range, everything else.

The only thing that sounds impressive is the 1'000'000:1 contrast ratio, which has been given no information if its true or not. Asus even made a gaming monitor that can sustain 1000 nits. It has 95% DCI-P3 colour accuracy, good for any professional, 4ms refresh time, 144Hz with G-sync. And all that costs only $2499. If you remove the G-sync, 144hz and the refresh rate, then it dramatically falls down. Apple made a monitor that no one asked for. People in Hollywood would still use those reference monitors because THEY ARE STUDIO MONITORS. Apple monitor is a plain monitor. Then it comes down to editing, they can already do their job just as good with their 8K or even 4K monitor. Stop trying to sound as if you're an expert You just sound like a sheep.

@@xpodx to perceive the resolution of a 28" 10k monitor you need to have insane eyesight. In theory people could benefit from 10k but it would need to take up more of your field of vision then 28" will be. You might not even be able to get close enough to see individual pixels before your eyes are unable to focus. You'd probably need a magnifying glass just to see the pixels. I have a 4k 27" monitor and I can barely see the pixels at the closest point to the monitor before my eyes lose focus.

Probably not even 2030 tbh... 1080p-1440p will remain the standard for at least another 5-10 years, quite sure. The differences are too minor and the demanded performance is too high. I'm also using a 4K monitor atm, I still think that way. It's nice but won't be the new standard for quite some time.

I hear ya I only went 1080p about 2 years ago now, when I got 24in Sceptre 1080p 60Hz monitors on sale for $99 each on Newegg, so I picked up 3 of them as it's the max my video card can handle with out a display port adapter converting to HDMI or DVI. before that I was using a 23in 1680x1050 60hz Acer monitor and 2 19in 1440x900 ACER monitors(found the pair at a GoodWill for $11 each), and none of them had HDMI inputs but only DVI, and VGA, and I think that's the case of a lot of people these days only having 1080p 60hz monitors, or cheap 1080p 60Hz TV's. Also I donated the 19in Acer monitors back to GoodWill, and now use the 23in ACER with a DVI male to HDMI female adapter with ASUS Chromebit as the computer in my guest room, and it looks really nice and clean with the Chromebit attacked the the back of the monitor.

This is giving me major throwbacks to Apple's 30 inch Cinema display in 2005, where they talked about how DVI connectors couldn't run 2560x1600 so they introduced dual-link DVI to handle that 'crazy' resolution. That was 13 years ago and 1440p is pretty meh by now... Imagine what that means for 8k

I just got today that screen. I love it. its in middle and at sides are each 1x 4K monitor. Almost all apps have adapted to 8K nowadays. Just VLC player is very very tiny :) For professional image processing its best screen around! Thx Linus for making this review!

I like the fact that you compensate for our display monitors by zooming in!!! Great tip for other people showing of their monitors, your monitor might have more pixels, but your viewers do not by zooming in, you show how many pixels are in section, thus showing off how many pixels there are total. The clearer the view up close, the more pixels it has to have to make it so.

using 49 inch 4k@60hz LG tv with a 980 GTX card for the last two years and love it. though I might upgrade my video card in a year or two tv was $1200 at time but now much less, I've seen for $500-700, and 980 was $700 at initial release. so you can still save a crapload and get great quality graphics

I just bought 3 used 3007wfp-hc's for like $120 each. The caveat is i had to buy two $90 adapters to go from display port to DVI dual link, which is the only input on these monitors. I'm very pleased though.

I was looking at DP cables since im getting a new monitor soon.. and decided to just grab an 8k compatible cable cause it was cheap, and that way i knew i wasnt getting something that wouldnt work.. New gpu also "Technically" supports 8k, but i had completely forgotten about this video and that 8k displays where publically available.

nah, 8k is just about the limit, after this monitor sizes would have to go up a lot before you can see a difference, unless you grab a microscope. And seeing as using 50 inch monitors is a little impractical, it would seem 8k HDR OLed will be a standard with advancements coming in refresh rates.

if you need some 8K wallpapers maybe try downloading a Timestorm video off You Tube and then running it with VLZ media player and taking a screen shot - should take about 5 min. with a smoking internet connection. I just tested it and it worked for me.

No it cannot. Even though it has the dedicated lanes for 2 displayport 1.4 ports, the device you're using would have to funnel both of those signals down a single connection. Only Apple products can achieve this at the moment. The display doesn't have thunderbolt input anyway. However, if you were to come across a device with HDMI 2.1 it could be split into 2 displayport signals to achieve 8k 60 hz since it can handle 10k at 120hz
